Worrying stories coming out of Europe regarding the wind today...

This one looks more justified than that long Giro stage getting cut a while back at least, completely tarnished Wilco for me that did.

Beer and butter contest. Let’s see how those lightweights get on in a true test of supremacy.

I got it!
Each team selects a rider, and they all get 15 seconds to draw a bike. The one whose drawing looks the most like an actual bike shall be declared the winner.

Esteban Chaves need not apply.

Schachmann, Bennett and De Lie DNS.

Looks like Schachmann killed his career last year with trying to recover from Covid with too much training too fast after the virus.
Yes, that's my impression, too. Perhaps he is lucky and his system recovers again which is still possible I think.

I mean the sprinters were always going to quit after yesterday. I'm surprised there arent more.

often those sprinters aiming for the classics like to do another couple of hard stages, even without a chance to win. Bennett was/is sick, though. Not sure about de Lie.

Sam Bennett, Mads Pederson and De Lie abandoning with a cold that must be going round a week before San Remo, how unlucky!

Just upset that Caleb didn't arrive at one of these races to collect his annual DNF.

When did that happen?

I checked his results but I think that they're just slightly below his level, and it's way too early to tell.
He had already problems in 2021 after the olympics. But I think that wasn't covid related. He suffered a lot in the Vuelta in that year with fatigue. He got Covid in februrary 2021 and quit Paris-Nice 2021 after that with fatigue. He then had to stop training for 8 weeks completely and came back for Romandie and Suisse. After the Tour he had problems with sickness and fatigue again and stopped completely. Now he is sick again in Paris-Nice again, but that could be just normal sickness. But not a really good sign.
At least he came back with some good shape at the Tour de Suisse and Tour, but not at his normal level.
