de gendt has a new fan, dude you can't do that in the yellow jersey, the french will say it's against le reglement!

Don't know where you get that from. I was watching it on France 3 and Thierry Adam, the speaker, was going ecstatic. Said it reminded him of Cancellara in the TdF

Today's finish was far from atypcial. It was nervous, but the break was comfortably caught and it was a straightforward bunch sprint.

We have two stages and two very atypical finishes, a departure from formula. Is this because of the radio ban? And could it be because of particular team riders taking advantage of this situation?

they are using radio's in this race..

all world tour events will have radio's this year afaik

Just watched the race having Sky+'d it...cracking leadout by Geraint ;)

Liked the quote that 'LL Sanchez being in Rabo Orange is like a Dog with a cats miaow - strange but interesting...'

I like him. Exudes class on a bike.

Come on. Don't be so nice and helpful. ;)

But that was a good one again after yesterdays, and this is the icing on top...
"Pardon me for trying to raise the quality of discussion here, but..."

After yesterdays stagewinner TFF, we finally have a winner for today.
Perhaps someone should add "with raceradio" or "without raceradio" to the thread's topic, before another overenthusiastic radiohater bites the dust.

Which just goes to show that fans won't notice if there are race radios or not.

Kinda useless to take them out to be honest, fans will not care nor notice.

imo De Gendt attacked only to break the HTC train, helping Romain Feillu in his sprint that way

No, it was something special, I enjoyed it :)

Yes, no doubt about that attack by De Gendt.

The last couple hundred meters I was watching that guy in powder blue Astana kit, wondering who it was... T Vaitkus. He did a nice bit of jockeying around to get a clear shot at the line. What a massive bunch at the line!

Thanks, I was only "trying"...:p

I was going on a cyclingnews.com articles that said that all races up to, and including, 1.HC and 2.HC races were included in the radio ban.

I take it that this does not include the historical calendar races?

"One kilometre later it was a case of 'train stops play' for the leaders as a railroad level crossing barrier came down in front of them and they were forced to stop. As they waited for the train, the rest of us soon pulled up behind them at the barriers.

[...]

A lot of riders seized their chance to edge up the outside of the peloton and move towards the front, even if that meant ignoring the stopped cars. As soon as the barriers rose, it was like a farmer opening a gate and a herd of sheep running loose. There was no need for the panic that ensued. It wasn't as if the finish line was only around the corner. We still had 40km to go and there should have been a bit more respect shown for race officials."

(Nicolas Roche at Irish Independent)

:D

I really like to read his blogs, happy that he's doing it again this year. Always very entertaining and interesting to read.

Flags looked the same to me, I don't follow second tier sprinters, so assumed he was Aussie.

At least they're a little bit more original in their flag ;)

As far as I'm concerned he's more Australian than Haussler :p

Nah, I'm just joking. If I'm serious about something I won't put some silly emoticon next to it.

But I did think he was Aussie, by looking at the tiny flags on the result sheet on tv. But there's really no difference in what I was trying to say. Most Aussie cyclists nowadays have a background on the track and then they come on the road and turn into a second tier cyclist(and first class domestique). Just like Henderson.

I hate it when professional athletes change nationalities on a frequent basis, so I make sarcastic comments about it. Look at some national football teams. It's one big joke. Sometimes I wonder how many Congolese people our government has turned into Belgians already just so they can play football here.

Me calling a New Zealander Aussie isn't as bad as some people calling Flemish a language by the way

ps: I was serious about the flags though. No creativity at all.
