Not a good nickname.

British sportsmen aren't very good at nicknames. Eg:

Bradley Wiggins = Wiggo
Andy Tennant = Tennanto
Jess Varnish = Varno (junior)
Steven Gerrard = Stevie G (or Stevie Me, or $tevie Me to non-liverpool fans).
Frank Lampard = Lamps
Ryan Giggs = Giggsy
David James = James-y
David Beckham = Becks
Andy Cole = Cole-y

etc.

Nope, sadly the days of good sporting nicknames are long gone. It's very rare to get a "Fonzie" these days.

In what way is Haussler being on the podium not predictable?
Haussler could have won. Galimzyanov and Rojas couldn't. That's the difference.

I really couldn't see any difference between the New Zealand flag and the Aussie one:p

When the Aussies/New Zealanders can't win anymore the season has started :D

There is now a smooth transition over to Belgian and Dutch riders, till the season really starts. :)

It won't be long before he will be "the rider formerly known as G", and then simply "the rider". Maybe someone can come up with a nice squiggle for a nic. It would be a welcome change from Le=o=pard press releases that try to get the correct usage inserted into the Bible as the 11th Commandment.

hes already got one. You dont need a train when you got thomas

I'd picked Tommy V for the win in another little forum comp.
Then Liquigas chased him down.
No sympathy for Mr Sagan and his bit of bike break dancing.
I do feel sorry for the pod sods he mowed down though.

Still, overall a deadly dull stage and I have a feeling, regardless of all those catagorized climbs, tomorrow will dish out more of the same.

G.Thomas looks in superb form. I'd question who is the quickest at the moment, Thomas or Henderson. The fact that he did a leadout and held out until 50m before the line before being overtaken is pretty impressive.

I wonder if he can get over the hills this week because with his form and time trial ability he could get a high GC.

He did well in the Classica Sardegna the last week. I suppose we'll see tomorrow.

By the way, awesome bike handling skills by Goss to avoid that crash and then win the stage! His manouevre reminded me of Flecha at Tirreno last year.

Sagan fell over sideways and slid on his side, but he spun round and ended up facing back the way he came from, so he rolled over backwards. He was still clipped in, so his bike came up over his head. Unfortunate but definitely accidental.

Sagan was dazed from the fall, of course he didn't deliberately throw his bike at anyone.

Big difference between making a sinister move and doing something deliberately. It was a stupid move, that's for sure (even if he was dazed).

True. His move did look quite sinister... Not making any accusations just yet.

No way. He was stuck in the pedals. Unless he should have just lain still in the road...

I just checked the info... none of them are hard at all, the toughest is 5.8%

Sagan will be there if he's not hurt by his crash and Goss/Haussler on classics form make it too. Hopefully no teams are strong enough to force the sprint.

I know we all get bored of HTC winning sprints but at least Goss really earned that one.

I think Haussler might be timing form perfectly for MSR:)

Haussler has looked really fast every day so far, he's going to get a win eventually.
He looked faster yesterday, cruising along after the team car.

Paris-Nice has been totally lame so far though.

But first I'm going to check out the profile for tomorrow before venting my anger.

People don't care about armchair cyclist's bad skilled analysis.

But have fun repeating this issue. Doesn't make it correct anyway.
Peter was still rolling over ground and clipped in.
Of course you would have handled that situation perfectly in few miliseconds without even hurting yourself and others.
Wonder what you will have for tomorrow to whine about, since you are whining for 2 days now.

People saying that Peter did this purposely need some fresh air, and especially some crashing experience for themselfes.

Pray tell what is the correct procedure when sliding out after rolling a tire at 35MPH+ and in the middle of a sprint? Just asking, also Kudos to Goss for his excellent reaction.

At the same time Congo gives up its independence to be annexed by Belgium.

Your right. What a proud history Belgium has:rolleyes:

And Rolland. You gave all that list of nicknames and missed the most obvious one

Cavendish = Cav.

So VDB will win Paris-Nice?

I think smooth transition would be an Aussie or Kiwi winning, who rides for a Dutch or Belgian team. ;)

btw, VDB is dead and there can only be one VDB.

Yeah, one of the best histories in Europe.

The italian equivalent of the north were for a long time of its history the low countries and especially Flanders.

Belgian treated it's colony with more respect than many other countries.

We got our colony in 1908, not in 1885 by the way.Something England always overlooks ;) As long as we don't say a word about Rhodesia lol.
