De Gendt is making a name for himself. Props.
Good for him (and little Tommy, of course) but doesn't that doom the break? Surely they'll be chased down while de Gendt is in it.

They'll be chased down regardless. I don't think any of these guys is far back on GC.

Whether the parcours is hard or not, there isn't a great deal of flat, which helps the break. Maybe they can hold the chasers off anyhow.

To be honest it looks like a very strong breakaway group today, De Gendt and Voeckler look good Di Gregorio is pritty good as well

Galimzyanov calls it quits.

That's a damn shame, he has been one of the fastest sprinters at the race so far. Any reason given, did he crash?

No idea. He was dropped by the peloton in the first kilometers. They were riding quite fast in the beginning.

Kinda Catch 22 I guess. What is nice is having some very motivated guys like him and TV in the break. They will ride hard for sure. Hope they hold off chase. Yeah

Samu is a danger to the peloton and shouldn't be allowed to race.
His reputation as a great descender isn't based on anything he's done in the past few years, that much is true ;)

just a side.... Tirenno A. 10 km to go there's a break with Ballan, Canc, Fellilu, Van Avermet and couple others. O'grady just pulled off after doing a lot of work. not sure the gap. But there is a chase group not far back.

 :D Strade Bianche?

Lol, you're watching the Strade Bianche rerun.

Flamebait?

Nah, just a joke. Cav crashed two or three times last year and suddenly he was a menace to society in the eyes of half the forum.

Back to the race: De Gendt has nabbed some bonus seconds at an intermediate sprint which will put him back in yellow if he can finish with the lead group.

Good on De Gendt but they will only get him yellow if Goss finishes outside the top 3 and Haussler and Henderson don't win
