Bit dissapointing personally and I think he will go in the break today and win!

He's not far behind so if he gets in the break, he won't win. It will be chased down.

I hope he doesnt' win anyway. The guy is the biggest wheelsucker in the peloton. Look at his Grand Tour stage wins. Did ****** all pace setting and used his breakaway companions to win. He didn't deserve those stages.

“I have been feeling well since the beginning of the race and I will go on with a fighting spirit, even I lost a few seconds today”, declared defending Paris-Nice champion Luis León Sanchez.

“The level is very high here and today Contador showed everybody that he is in great condition. As for me I believe I must be satisfied because in such a hill to finish less than thirty seconds behind a climber like Contador is really a good result…. Anyway, we will keep on fighting in the next stages and take advantage of the opportunities.

His team-mate Valverde was the closest to Contador, taking second on the stage. At one point it looked like he was coming back to his compatriot, but the double Tour de France winner accelerated in the final kilometre and pulled away again.

“I believe that I must be satisfied with my second place here in Mende,” he said afterwards. “This kind of hill is just perfect for Contador. Alberto made the difference when he attacked but after that when I attacked behind him the gap was unchanged.”

“I felt well and I am most of all happy and at the same time surprised because I am not suffering too much from the cold weather. And believe me it is every day colder. In the Côte de Chabrits there were minus four degrees Celsius.”

earlier this morning there was a quote from the badger (i can't find it now ). he said that contadors advantage was slim and less than he expected. he explained it by cold air. said the CdE duo needs to harass berto if they want to win.

champion seems allowed to go as his lead increased from 10 to 15 sec.

edit: nope. caught as i was typing. the peloton does not read my posts :)

The Badger would have attacked on the first climb. These guys won't. It was a different style of racing. If CdP really wants to isolate Contador, they need to continually attack him all day. Nobody races like this anymore, quite boring.

Taramae has joined the leaders, and is only one minute behind contador on GC. Will be virtual leader any minute.

Yeah he is now.

Any hope for the break? What if the second 4 catch? I doubt they will

edit 2nd 4 sat up

Lead shrinking a bit on this climb. Think they'll be caught soon. Someone posted gustov, taramae and calzati in the Podium Contest thread, and as we know, this acts as a powerful jinx..think anyone ever will pick the top three in correct order?
