I actually picked Popovych to take the stage, on another forum. He came in 150th!
I can only find 6 of the team finishing and Chris Horner beat Bottle.

Worse news of all?

:eek::eek::eek:

You're cheating on us? With another cycling forum? How dare you.

Sagan or AC?
Sagan, clearly. I've seen his finishing likened to that of Ricco, elsewhere.
Seems they grow quick ripening sour grapes, over in cycling's Low Countries heartland.;)

Loving the defence of Johnny Hoover.

Yeah... Can't be bothered with it anymore though.

Seriously, come on now. A 45 second all-out anaerobic effort to get a gap followed by a 3 minute TT/V02max effort to win a flat stage is not even close to being in the same ballpark as Ricco riding away from the whole peloton on mountain top finishes while breathing through his nose.

On the other hand it's good to know that I'm not the most cynical cycling fan in the world. :D

Uhm... right. I'm not making any statements about Johnny's preparation habits. I'm not exactly a fan, just think it rather odd to raise eyebrows about the second-to-last finisher in a race.

Oh, and one more thing: cycling's heartland? The Netherlands?? No way.

Hey guys please, I know I new here, but clinic on clinic. It is really annoying that every second topic here turns from racing to doping. I don't have anything about discussing it (and it's natural when someone like Peter Sagan emerege) but i want some topics when i can read just interesting sporting comments.

On topic - wonderful racing today again, I'm so happy that season is on fire. Liquigas the best team so far for me (suprised - they got everything working, very strong, versatile team) +1

I agree, Liquigas is in my opinion the strongest team by far this season, at least on paper. 4 strong GC contenders, 2-3 great sprinters and one 20-year-old who can do everything.

If anyone's suspect in today's result, it's not Hoogerland, but a certain talent who's turning out to be a bit too good for my liking.

If they are all 'on the program' why do you mention that each rider you don't like is 'on the program'. It should go without saying, shouldn't it?

I'm not saying anything in defense of his doping or non-doping habits.

You were talking about results, THAT was the bull**** part. (them being clearly worse than end 2009.. which we showed is not true)
And, in a desperate attempt to not lose face, Mellow and you turn it into a 'you defend hoogerland from doping-abuse' topic. Which we never did.

Funny. Now stop turning around everything and admit you were wrong. Thanks.

Hey no, don't get me wrong, I wasn't knocking or question young Mr Sagan's efforts. I'm with you on this.

I'm not with you on Levi, however. I suspect he may well be over his peak and on the downward curve.
I reckon Tyler Farrar is the best the US has to offer.
For one thing, he rides all season and has already podiumed at Het Volk.
Just imagine Levi trying to go well, there.

Simple question. Have you ever had a nuanced thought, ever? Everything you say, always, is so black-and-white. It's either this-or-that. Some other poster either right-or-wrong.

I have no interest in 'defending myself' against such aggresive, hostile language. Sorry.

Hey kid, I'm not the one who has lost face around here. Never really entered into the Johnny H debate.
You, on the other hand, called Mende completely wrong and got egg on your face, over in Tirreno, yesterday pm.

So, if you don't mind, leave me out of your little spat.

Haha, your sense of nuance on the Hoogie issue has been impressive so far, I must say. You gotta be effing kidding me. Dekker_Tifosi has sought to bring the nuance in the discussion, by stating those elusive things called facts.

I didn't think you personally were questioning Sagan, just relating what some people on other forums were saying. So my response was more directed at "them" than you. :D

And you are right, Farrar is now our best, which of course means that we have no stage racer now but that's fine for me personally because I'm a much bigger Classics fan. But it's not good for USA Cycling.

Okay. You guys are welcome to think that a 11th in the Ruta del Sol is equal to a 12th place in the Vuelta. A 2nd in the GP Marseillaise is equal to a 5th in Lombardy.

I just don't agree.

And yes, I'm not nuanced when it comes to Hoogerland. He's one of the precious few I'm completely dismissive of, and am totally done with. Again. Sorry.

That's what happens when you lose most of the guys that helped you to be good and try to replace them with young but talented riders, you're not going to be very good. Same thing happened to N Carolina in CBB

*awaits the creation of "Sagan how good is he?" thread :p

haha the funny thing is i thought about creating that thread a couple days ago after his back-to-back second and first...the kid is super strong though can't wait to see how good he can be in a few years...just hope that too much pressure isn't put on him after this race

SO ANYWAY. what a great win by Sagan. he was absolutely desperate in the last 2 kms, this guy is so hungry to win!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azsjYk_iCOM

Awesome effort, not the prettiest style though. He looked like he was dead and giving up at least three times. Probably would have won by 10 seconds if he was a little more aero on his bike. He's as smooth as Kelly was.:D

Great day for Leaky Gas. Wins in both P-N and TA.
If you just look at the quality of the squad they have riding in Tirreno, and the one in Paris-Nice... it's just amazing. And they're competitive too, rather than just cruising along. What a team. HTC, eat your heart out.

Add in their stage racing posse and that team is stacked.
