One thing I see as an American who has some experience with many different helmets for bicycles and motorcycles.. In particular Sena brand communication products, different generations.. @4-5 years of product evolution and improvements.
I don't understand why communications have not been located in the helmet instead of the riders body, with particular attention to the complicated and awkward action of activating and talking into your jersey lapel to communicate with team car.
Watching Mads flat after a difficult turn, there was nowhere easy to take hands off bars to call for a wheel.. If microphone was located on helmet, maybe in the chin strap or near just seems safer than current dual action of taking hand off bars and reaching to activate mic and lower your head to speak into your chest to ask for assistance or information, got to be a better way..and w Pog and MVP the electronic growth hanging off their back looks out of place under the rear of the jersey and looks like something that could hurt if you fall directly on the race radio module..
There are only 6,7 helmet manufacturers at WT level, easy to create space for unit.. In EF or Visma " aero helmets you could fit a coffee maker inside with room to spare!! Don't know if Sena has market penetration in Europe but they introduced bicycle helmet line a couple of years ago with integrated communication ability
With all the electronic cycling gadgets, surprised that nothing is done.

Amazed that they need to be the size they are, and that we don't hear more of the riders getting their backs torn up when the roll over onto them.

Great race which didn't disappoint. Congrats to MVDP, a very well deserved victory to three-peat.

Pogacar also rode a great race and was a bit unlucky. Crashing was a loss of concentration maybe due to the efforts he expended following MVDP's attacks and launching his own. Hopefully no lingering injuries. But then he had a puncture and might have come back if not for the painfully slow bike change by the team car. Pog won't be happy with that.

Thats the difference between Pidcock and MVP. Pidcock waited and MVP not.
Today Pidcock even waited so long that he was awarded an OTL as the last rider to complete.
(Edit: sorry, had to leave shortly after the podium celebrations and just returned a book of pages behind in this thread, I just eyed another Pidcock pun joke has already been delivered :))

Pedersen was pushed down to 31st!
Now that one was pure evil :D I've been completely away from the race shortly after MvDP raised his arms. Knocked me off a split second, but enough to that I had to check up on the results list

I must say that I was surprised to see the other Pedersen in the Danish championship jersey finishing that high in the rankings today. He pulled himself completely into the fence the first 20-25km from the start selveral times in the hope to create a defining breakaway, I counted at least 6-7 times he was in red zone shortly after the start, maybe more.
I was absolutely sure Søjberg would get a DNF. Lucky for him that a World Tour team has believed so much in him after he won the national championship out of the blue as a nobody. Now already two completed monuments on his list - and today where he has in no way saved his energy, but on the contrary showers of attacks/jumps from the gun.

Also the way I saw it and to me Pogacar rolls way easier than MVP, who doesn't give off always smooth round pedaling, he is just a monster,
Pog gives me the look that he carries a little more speed. All that , today it looked to me that 50,45 to go Pogacar starting taking a little longer to fall back on the wheel, and even before he fell off his bike his upper body looked to be moving more than normal, looking just a little tiny bit toasted. Once he was chasing more obvious from what I saw..
And to be clear as I am evaluating and absolute stallion on the bike, while I am on the sofa..Pogacar rode an incredible race ,including his concentration during the chase.
If he wasn't extraordinary he would not have shattered almost everyone, he would not have been a major catalyst in forcing the selection and he would not have rolled to a solo second against some really fast deeply talented racers. And the way he tries to blow everyone up.. All the time.. Relentless attacking.. Fun to watch. Even when he loses he does it with style.
Him Telegraphing what he is going to do, not very imaginative.. He basically says over and over..
Going to make the race as hard as possible.
. And he does.. Can you tell I am a fanboy!!
Hoping for astounding Giro regardless of who races..
Have to agree while viewing the last 50km. MvP stayed cool and Tadej attacked him some km before he rode off and lost his block of time. He pretty much confirmed to MvP that he feared his sprint wouldn't take it. Once Mvp had the gift of that gap he managed his efforts to fend off Tadej. How? The communication with his DS in the car allowed micromanagement of counter aggression. Tadej worked to get close and Matheu applied enough effort to reform the gap at what appeared to be the best opportunities. This reconfirms my issue with constant, direct DS to rider communication. Mvp started riding to sap Pogacar's attacks; confident he could win a sprint if they came back together. He would have had to apply full TT mode without the help from his car.
Given how well he knows the course I had no doubt he'd win if the two were together in the velodrome but the advantage of knowing every second of gain or loss by Pogacar was a definite advantage.

Definitely a likely injury, don't know with high pulse and breathing at professional athlete level, open helmet design and associated wind noise don't know voice activation is in the cards. But there are definitely open channel designs that have 8-10 hour battery life. In have no dog in the fight with Sena but I have helmet mounted communication device that is smaller than bike racing version, battery life is @13-14 hours.. Retail individual retail is about @$290 USD. My main issue is you can shift gears completely wireless and manufacturers have handlebar programmable switches including paddle shifters, you can program them to do whatever you want. Watch Mads, touch shifter or bar mounted switch.. " front flat" without taking hands off the bars..I only bring this up not from Roubaix, but in multiple ( over 10+) that I have watched during crunch time, lets call that 4-5 k to go guys are in the front of the race absolutely full throttle and they have a hand off the bar barking information into their radio mic, each time I see it, looks dangerous but more importantly.. If a hand off the bar after race is won is illegal, yellow card and possible fine. No way that taking your hand off the bar during the leadout is way more dangerous in my opinion. Mads asking for a wheel, not hazardous behavior but at 60+ in the front of the race, immediately before sprint is sketchy in my experience. So if technology can't fix or modify behavior and the very least, race radio should go silent with 3 k crash zone. So I was framing it as a positive, guys on cobbles, needs a wheel.. That's improved but it's Russian roulette allowing a bunch of chit chat going 60,70k..
