After another display of perseverance and the mental strenght to always come back, even after horrible injuries, I really hope Wout van Aert can take his cobblestone monument. If not, guys like Pedersen or Küng are also granted a stellar win. As long as it's someone else than those same two guys over and over again.

My pick of Wout was partially sentimental, but not completely after the way he rode yesterday. Pog and Mathieu are stronger. I know Mads was stronger yesterday, but that wasn't the case on Wednesday. Wout's form held yesterday thorughout the race. In all honesty, it will take a mechanical or other incident for him to beat Mathieu, but it's Roubaix, so that is part of the game. Logically, I don't see that Wout can win, but my heart says he can. Way to many times in life, I have led with my heart, and the outcomes have not always been great, but every once and awhile good happens. It's never happened with Roubaix, I used to wake up every Roubaix Sunday, hoping it was the year for Hincapie. Wout is a better cyclist than Hincapie ever was, and closer to Mathieu than Hincapie ever was to Museeuw or Boonen. The universe never owes a debt to anyone, but if it did, then Wout is owed for 2023. All of that being said, Wout cannot win on Sunday, but my heart will still be there, willing it on anyway. To pick anyone else just wouldn't be consistent with who I am.

Who decides this approach to Arenberg? It’s still the same fast road but now they’ll fight for position for a sharp turn again. Hope it won’t lead to a crash.

I would rather crash fighting for a corner than flying straight onto cobbles at 70 kph.

Voted Ganna out of hope rather than what is likely. He's riding well and due a big win. Maybe the big favorites look at each other and he gets away. Only MVDP would stand any chance of getting back to Ganna's wheel on the flat.

For those interested, and you should, because they reflect reality, the betting markets give Pog a 20% chance of winning. Much less than Flanders. MvdP the fave here. Rain, and MvdP is the massive fave. Wout and Mads will no doubt fancy their chances too. I think this could be an epic edition.
