Ah I didn't know that WVA crashed on that same knee again. Probably has something to do with it because he really shouldn't have looked like that.

Pogacar is brilliant, but its also great for the sport of cycling that even he can get stuck in a position like today where his opponent clearly have the upper hand. Alpecin might go 1-2 for the second year in a row, its almost unbelievable how good they are in this race.

Well yeah cause they all want the fastest tyres. Same with crashes, they compensate on everything to just go faster cause if one team does it they all need to.
That doesn't line up with their use of tire inserts, which are only there to prevent flats (questionably effective, though) and actually sap watts.

Alpecin does seem to have figured out the secret sauce.

It must be ferocious to ride this part of this race. Every time you come out of a cobble sector, there’s another sign saying “You have to do that again in another 4.7km.”

These attacks from afar seemed so exciting years ago, now it just kills much of the race dynamic. Obviously there's still excitement with these 3, but it gets to be like match races.
