Visma is in a good position here, if the groups stays together for a while.

Ganna and Meeus back, great comebacks - RB now also have 2

Wout deserves exact the palmares he has, just like any other rider.

But I hope he wins at this point.
No one waited the two years he got a mechanical at PR though. He'd have a win or two by now had people treated him like Pog back then.

The one thing that likely happened is that Pog didn't get to fuel well, during his chase, and then went directly into Aremberg, so he may have a calorie deficit.

Are people forgetting Pogacar did a 10 km solo on his own to close a 20" gap?
Visma should definitely work! It's the best chance for Wout in his entire career
Nope. They should sit and do nothing. Only Pogacar should ride. The rest should save as much of their legs for when Pogacar goes.

Pedersen constantly at the back of the group, he is sticking to his plan and not doing work at all

The big unknown is how much he will have at the end, coming off an injury

They didnt wait.

MVDP attacked.

Then no team wanted to push the group super-hard. There was still 120km to go.

This always happen in this race. A minor crash or mech is not the end in this race and never has been. You can come back.

ah, yes that would explain it, but then also are they crazy !?! why are they riding different equipment in this race among the team, and how did they forget when he handed over the bike, thats so dumb isnt it.
I suppose you might forget what pedals you use riding Arenberg in the middle of P-R... And if that's in fact shimano prototype, he may have thought it's compatible with standard shimano cleats

It was 15 seconds, you really think the other teams we're worrying about Vermeesch and would've floored it if he dropped back?
At the point it was sub 20s the peloton had totally sat up anyway. When it was still 30s and Alpecin/Visma pulling, that's a big risk. They might have decided to drill it (independently of Vermeersch's presence), and then it's race over.

You have to think of it from UAE's perspectiv. A 30s gap would only likely close if the peloton sat up. Vermeersch is on good form and has come second before – if VdP got a mechanical, there was a genuine chance to win.

By the time it was sub 20s, the peloton had sat up. That wasn't going to be much energy saved for Pogacar, for what ended up being 2km of chasing.

Maybe UAE should have told Vermeersch to drop after the cobbled sector? But VdP had just attacked maybe the pace have would have jumped up and it was a lost cause anyway.
