Great win for Ferrand Prevot in her debut.

Wiebes once again refusing to take a single pull, glad that she didn't win.
When your modus operandi is based on making Simon Gerrans look like Frank Vandenbroucke, it's hardly surprising.

The thing is, there's often enough tactical naïveté in the bunch, and her sprint weapon is so reliable, that she usually gets away with it.

Have to say SRAM were pretty clueless. Don’t really see how they are working as a team. One of them should have followed Norsgaard.

Giorgi was unlucky to crash on second last section. Otherwise had potential for a podium finish.

Let me start with TP is an amazing talent who certainly has a chance to win tomorrow. But saying that "a decorated off road racers won PR so TP has a chance" is not really a good analogy.
Pogacar won national cyclocross. Now i don't doubt Slovenian cyclocross is not nearly as competitive as the belgian and dutch nation cyclocross championships are, but i have seen enough of him in the peloton to believe that his bike handling is more than good enough. (You can also add strava stuff)

I don't think this race tells us anything about Pogačar's chances, other than it being possible for a different UAE rider to win because of his presence.

Agree, but he has not spent most of his career racking up dirt wins like PFP.

I don't understand why they went for Wiebes surely this was Kopeckys race !?!

I mean when you heard the interview of Kopecky after the race, she didn't sounded disappointed. And I get it, she won the race already last year and won last Sunday. Of course when you participate in a race you want to achieve the best possible outcome for yourselve/team.

But I think how the race went today, there was no chance for Kopecky to win it and maybe the team understood this and went for the Wiebes card.

I mean when you look at other teams like Trek or Canyon, you can ask them why didn't they trust their fast sprinters?

I think you're missing the point. It's not that his bike handling is bad compared to the average pro in the race tomorrow. It's that there's a gap in bike handling on this terrain between him and MVDP. Just as there is a significant gap in bike handling between almost the entire peloton and MVDP, who can regular drop other top riders in cross races when there are technical sections.

Balsamo never looked like someone who should have the whole team working for her. They played it right by using Van Dijk and Norsgaard to put pressure on the other teams, but it just didn't work out for them.

One of the CSR riders reacted too late to PFP's attack and couldn't close it down, but there was also a risk of her just taking everyone else with her like Norsgaard had done during Jackson's earlier attack, which would only really have helped SDW.

Just managed to watch a replay. I thought it was an exciting race, not too predictable and enough attacks here and there. And what a popular winner in Pauline. This bodes good for Wout, it seems the tire pressure system works!
It was a good race, final selection had all the usual suspects including Canadian Jackson who tried a few times unsuccessfully to bring race together. Ferrand- Prevot deserves lots of praise for continuing just to push and race positive, impressive speeds for riding solo..she picked lines that were different from the losing group if you watch some of the replay. Congratulations

SD Worx talking about bad strategy. LOL. They probably need to read the race and the strength of their riders better.
