Unlike other races, this race is one day before the men's event, so we get to enjoy two days of PR action! Kopecky is back to defends her title, and with a win in Flanders she is the number one favorite. Unfortunately Longho Borghini is not racing because of the crash she had in Flanders. Can anyone else pose a challenge?

The 5th edition of Paris-Roubaix Femmes avec Zwift will take place the day before, on Saturday 12th April, on a route strictly identical to the one in 2024, with a total distance over the cobbles of 29.2 km, spread over the 17 sectors corresponding with the finale of the men’s race.

For cobble lovers, there will be five courses on the menu during the weekend, starting on Saturday, when thousands of amateur cyclists swing into action, as they get to grips with one of the three distances to choose from on the Paris-Roubaix Challenge. As a curtain raiser for the men’s race, the under-18s will set off for the velodrome from Lécelles, with 111 km to cover and 17 cobbled sections to tackle, while the under-23s will do battle over 163 kilometres (and 26 sections) between Le Cateau-Cambrésis and Roubaix.

Well, it hasn’t even existed for very long so “always” isn’t very applicable. But I know what you mean—it has taken place on Sat for some previous editions

Yes, despite the thread titles, we are dealing with a two-day monument.

The first edition was supposed to have been held on the same day as the men's race in 2020, and I seem to remember there was a special reason why it was then moved to Saturday for real first edition, which they then decided to stick with afterwards (one reason being that they also have to hold the junior and U23 races).

It will probably be difficult for anyone to drop Kopecky. However it won't necessarily be easy for her to drop everyone else and then everything can happen in a sprint.

I'm rooting for Vos. I'm also looking forward to seeing what Dygert is capable of on the cobbles.

It is to hard with the UCI rules for maximum distances for races. You need Arenberg to be well into the race to diminish the numbers entering the forest.

I just find it more important that the young women - who are potentially future pros - get to race. Rather than a bunch of tourists get to ride.

Kinda surprising it's on a different day than the men's race. But for what is probably the biggest one day race of the year maybe a good thing. That way everyone that wants to (and does not need to work) can watch as much of it as they wish.

I swear some of these races waited until the twilight of Vos' career to start up just so they can try to be her equivalent of Merckx at Paris-Tours.

If someone had been quick to close down Deignan in 2021, she probably would have won. She was also unlucky to be sick the following year, and then she had that mechanical in 2023 which really should have put her completely out of contention, but she almost ended up sprinting for the win anyway.

On PR day, I am reminded of the first edition in 2021, when my fellow tiny Dane CUL had yet to break her butt (which is seemingly very hard to come back from) and managed to finish 16th, coming in with a two woman group with woman of the hour, Lotte Kopecky. The difference 4 years makes..
