You could add gravel sectors to virtually all races and they will become more selective and intense. Dirt roads are as numerous as asphalt roads. But is this what road cycling is all about?
The "entertainment" factor will consist of a lot of punctures and crashes making it more of a lottery.
It's an interesting discussion. I think gravel has it's place in road cycling but it shouldn't become like cyclocross or mountain biking. As a spice in a few races, it's fine.As long as real people ride their bikes on real dirt roads, every day in everyday life, it makes sense to me that they are part of cycling![]()
