Yeah, Lipo is very consistent uphill (and he's shown it since last year's Dauphine). He lacks punch but most importantly he has good sustained w/kg. He wasn't far off Pogi this week (even if the Slovenian is heavy right now) and significantly distanced the rest. Lipo is easily 4th on my pre-Tour list.

His talent may be over before even shine at its fullest. Pressure from media, public, lack of experience, youth... Great for getting burned with desire. My prediction - he'll have two stellar performances, driven by euphoria. After that he'll have a fate of Icarus.

Doubters beware...so far, Paul Seixas has checked all the boxes...can't do this, can't do that, you don't know, and I don't know. Remco didn't know either and was the one who couldn't handle the distance at LBL it seems.Is this a bridge too far? We'll find out, but I won't bet against Paul Seixas: he has shown too much.

Personally I don't think the danger is the 3 weeks per se, it's 3 weeks against Pogi and Vingegaard.

IMO if he manages his effort he can easily beat everyone else and keep enough energy for 20 days.

What he did in LBL is actually what he should not do on the Tour, he was going all in on LaRedoute, fully in the red, and then again all in on RaF and then cracked and lost 25 seconds in 500 meters.

Obviously circumstances are different, but the point is he should not go too much in the red to follow Pogi

I think that was Neil Young who said that ...Any who, first time in a GT race and the "nation turns it's lonely eyes to you". Ooh, the expectations will weigh heavy on those young shoulders.

Seixas is gonna kick some ass.
All this too young, not proven over 3 weeks, needs experience is from boomer ex-pros who were told they had to starve themselves and train and race on a couple rice cakes and if they ate any food they would get shamed off the team.
The reason nobody was any good until the late 20s is because their bodies had no fuel to race and had to be trained to perform in a carb depleted state.
All that is out the window, nowdays everyone can know the science and nutrition around fueling and the cant race long distances or grand tours is totally out the window. Its not some skill you gain, its just food.

He knows himself well enough to pace for 3 weeks unless he's caught up in the chaos of week 1-5 of crashes. Fortunately, there are early stages to give him serious time gaining opportunities; his team being capable of supporting those situations.
If his early season training and effort has already drawn too much he may want to retire early. He shouldn't just drag his a*s through 3 weeks of degradation to please Prudhomme and France but he can have some highlights. There's time to recover for further heroics.
