I don't think we have credible science to back the claim that starting at the age of 10 would make a difference (except to descending skills!).
I agree. I mentioned the age of 10 simply to emphasize that this particular boy has been preparing for a professional career for a very long time. Since joining the world tour last year, he has incorporated the latest key elements into his training (altitude training camps, a very strict diet, breathing exercises, and other confidential but not illegal things IMHO...). And he's fortunate that his body responds so well to developing his extraordinary potential.
