What constitutes evidence? It's a concept many don't understand very well. Evidence takes on many forms and it's not always a positive test. Not sure what all those "where's the evidence" people don't take the 3abnormal results as a form of evidence?

Who knows.

Weird blood results coupled with outstanding race results against people who were subsequently testing positive.

Yeah. Seems legit.

Leave the article that generated this post 'till last. Just remind yourself where we came from first.

First a real peach http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/cycling/4714513.stm

Where were you on the day Lance said he felt sorry for those of us who couldn't believe in miracles ?

Next - you just have to feel for these people http://content.time.com/time/specials/2007/article/0,28804,1733748_1733756_1735280,00.html

Oh and when the dam broke his pals are running for cover in a display of comedy that Buster Keaton would be proud
http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/13133/Merckx-amazed-at-Armstrong-says-they-never-spoke-about-doctors.aspx

[OK so why was Cookson doing selfies with this guy and introducing him to the Juniors in the new "cleans" era as someone to look up to ?. When does the penny get to drop ?]

Anyway, I was looking for an article that came out around 2004 or 2005 in which Lance was whining on about the accusers upsetting his children, but it is drowned out by all the later stuff. Then as Lance went full bore for the sympathy vote in Jan 2013 the tide was going the other way and he assured us he had to come clean because he saw one of his children defending him and he just couldn't bear to think of the poor kid lying for his dad. I don't think so. What I do think is he saw his kid lying for him and knew that one day soon his son would mature enough and join the rest of the planet in working out Lance just did not care who he lied to,in order to further his own ego and so rather than leave it until later, it would be a great card to play in his forthcoming Oprah attempt at rehabilitation. For Lance, as for the rest of the dopers, It is all about maximising the opportunity at the time of the opportunity and whoever is around to be used, gets used.

But anyway back to Paula. Have a read. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/athletics/12023383/Paula-Radcliffe-speaks-for-first-time-about-how-doping-allegations-turned-her-life-upside-down.html

The comments section is interesting.

Very weird blood results, which were attributed to altitude and now she says it wasn't altitude when the pseudo scientiest cross referenced and worked out she wasn't at altitude.

What colour is the sky in these peoples' world FFS?

Using the awful events in Paris to try to justify her talking out of her arse about her dodgy as Fcuk blood values. WTF

Tasteless. On par with Armstrong's "I'm doing it for them" Comeback 2.0 Nike commercial in terms or tastelessness.

Radcliffe has managed to be UKs Armstrong. Impressive.

We've also had the obligatory 'The children have been affected by it' and also wasn't Paula seen at a War cemetery on this Remembrance Sunday (being photographed being there of course).

The 'where's the evidence' retort is usually pretty weak and smacks of a last ditch argument.

Anyhow many people as they get older and wiser understand certain 'indications' that things aren't right and caution is required, the police and military use them.

So here are just some of the indicators:

Smashing doping athletes during the EPO era.
Most insane athletics record ever, dopers can't get near.
3 blood values which eminent anti dope scientists say are dodgy as ****.
Best mates with the former chairman of the FIFA ethics committee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The crazy interviews.
Associations with Nike.
Using kids and terrorist atrocities to skew emotional perceptions of her predicament.

you think Lance gives a *** for anything other than Lance? I dont think any of these stories about Luke (his son) are true. All you need to know about Lance is on the triathlon half marathon where he cam a reasonably close second, one of his daughters had flowers for him on the finish line, and he was not interested in taking the bouquet off his daughter. That is the most enlightening episode of The man Lance Armstrong. You dont have to read anything, you do not need to hear anything, you do not need to see anything, apart from seeing this episode. then you cant be deaf dumb and blind nor forget it.

+ quality results in jnrs and regionals and also underage and amateur worlds, but mediocre results in the pros/olympics.

*Lance's Worlds win, well, great ride, but everyone is aware a one-day race can be a crap-shoot even with a decimated bunch jettisoning the riders of lesser stature (infers one was not the lesser stature riders of that day)

Reminds of the the following....

Government to use the attack on the World Trade Centre to distract attention from "bad" news stories was fighting for her job last night.

Jo Moore, who works for Stephen Byers, the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, was widely condemned for showing spin at its worst when her news management memo was leaked.

Miss Moore's memo, written at 2.55pm on September 11, when millions of people were transfixed by the terrible television images of the terrorist attack, said: "It is now a very good day to get out anything we want to bury. Councillors expenses?"

The announcement she referred to related to a minor U-turn on pension rights for councillors.
Miss Moore, 38, apologised and Downing Street said that this would be enough to allow her to keep her job.

I did notice in the Daily Mail story the following line of text.

Radcliffe says her name has been ‘dragged through the mud’ since the reports of highly abnormal blood tests by an unnamed ‘British athlete’ surfaced in a report by German broadcaster ARD last year.

She offered to take a lie detector test to convince doubters, declaring: ‘I am innocent, I swear. I have never taken drugs.’

It is the Daily Mail, but it would be interesting if she has volunteered to take a lie detector test. Obviously, and true to the DM, the words 'lie detector' aren't accredited in any of PR's spewings.

love Paula, she is an integral part of the Clinic, the gift that just keeps on giving...

a little like Rebekkah Brooks, I would not wish my worst enemy to be married to her, I can see it just being all about Paula, Paula, Paula, more Paula, and Paula also. If she was a man, she would be named Lance Armstrong, and you would need to swab him/her for the clap everytime he left the house

Her husband's a 'real piece of work' as well. Caught off camera at the London, no sorry, Paula Marathon telling the kids off quite nastily for crying on air, which didn't make brand 'Paula' look good.

Having just written that I am reminded of a line in the ~Sweeney.

Coe cannot recognise the conflict of interest of him holding a Nike ambassadorial role for over £100,000 per year whilst Nike are embroiled in the IAAFs award of the World Champs, prior to any other city's getting their bids in. And Coe is in charge of the Ethics committee at the IAAF, responsible for looking out for infractions in ethics within the IAAF and advising expert opinion on such issues. They guy in charge of looking for, finding and advising, cannot recognise infractions if they run him over with a national news report.

Back to the Sweeney - ok fiction but written after much research and many off the record interviews. In the very corrupt Met of the time, inspector Reegan is having a bust up with his superior about a another inspector wanting to keep Reegan out of a certain crime investigation. The response from Reegan is along the lines of "he couldn't find an Irishman in a Shamrock club". (note for non-Brits and younger readers - the contemporary backdrop was the IRA terror bombing campaign.)

Cookson and Coe looking for doping infractions. "In your cycling career Mr Wiggins, have you ever come across someone using PEDs, can you name that person to me so I can investigate them ?

"Nope, I can't think of anyone I know, but I have heard that round the corner there was someone once who......."

And now springing into my mind are all those pictures of Sir Brad's invited guests at his hour record all socialising together, a "Shamrock Club" if ever there was one.

Seb went from the Tory party, to the IAAF board, to FIFA Ethics comittee, & was a major part of a couple of attempts to secure the Olympics along the way.

If you had a 2x4" made of ethics, & smacked Seb across the back of the head repeatedly, he wouldn't notice !

Ethics & he inhabit two completely different universes !

Coe & ethics? Reminds me of his unsuccessful application to the high court for a superinjunction to 'avoid the loss of reputation'. Sadly for Coe, Lord Justice Fulford did not agree with him and he became, instead, a footnote in legal history.

It does demonstrate the lengths to which Coe will go to keep the public in the dark.

Do you think he was on PEDs at the time?

No, I think she just gave him a head's start!

Peds or not, the episode certainly gave him all the standing he needed to head up the FIFA ethics committee.

wait,

two interpretations possible, I think the one you meant was her husband made the family look bad, like Armstrong giving his daugther short shrift with her flowers for him.

but the other interpretation, that alpha interpretation, was the kids were not displaying sufficient signs of muscular christianity and gordonstoun values of robust core and resilience... we will go with the first. But the second is much more amusing

the premise is wrong, I wanna see her passport and see a stamp or credit card receipts she was even in Paris.

if she was at Euro Disney, why werent the kids rolled out like Armstrong and Anna's trick or treat Halloween dress ups?

Hog, I call bull****.***

If she was in paris contemporaneously, would not she have been live-tweeting?

ofcourse she would have. I call more BS on Paula, the truth never matters just like Prance

*** can someone tell me why bovine scatology is swear filtered?

This " I don’t want the last thing people remember about me to be that I was linked to drugs" is pretty much the answer to the question of "Why are you lying about your doping?"...

Add to that the beating a 10y.o. at a charity bike "race" for kids...

I accidentally clinked on the first post in this thread. The article from 2012 is scary.

We are 1,800m (6,000ft) above sea level in the Pyrenees, and marathon world record holder Paula Radcliffe is preparing for the London Olympic Games.

She is doing naturally what others turn to drugs for. Train this high, and the human body produces more of the hormone, EPO, erythropoietin.
