[mod comment : original thread title was Pegasus Sports > 'Gillette-Fly-V', which led to some confusion over many pages, as many people took it to mean the razor blade company, rather than George Nield Gillett Jr's Gillett Holdings].

Christian Knees and Serguei Klimov to ride for Pegasus Sports

Cancellara is close to an agreement. The only problem Chris White has is, if he can support Fabian enough in the big Classics.

Source Sydney Morning Herald: http://www.smh.com.au/sport/cycling/cancellara-quits-saxo-and-pegasus-vows-allout-effort-to-sign-him-20100919-15i0q.html

So it is getting serious White is getting his act together ... maybe time to start listing the riders we have for them Aussies thus far.

Gilette, that's a good thing, another big sponsor going into cycling in a period where it earlier looked quite dire for sponsorship

Well Cancellara "should" be enough to get them invites to the classics, but who knows.

Clint Avery (Trek-Livestrong)
Trent Lowe (Garmin-Transitions)
Robbie McEwen (Katusha)
Hatch Roberts (Milram)
Svein Tuft (Garmin-Transitions)

Plus Christian Knees and Serguei Klimov, maybe cancellara. There going to need one hell of a lot more riders.

Yep. And no way do they get invite for the Tour. Looks like the era of Cancellara 7 days is coming to an end, or at least taking a 1 year break.

Garmin and Milram have a hell of a lot of riders going to be without a contract. Footon as well. And bbox?

They also have a number of their current roster still under contract for the coming year - I think about 8 - including Jai Crawford and Jonathan Cantwell who have both performed well, obviously sprint focussed. Not ready to match Cav, but should get some wins in Europe none-the-less.

Ah, but next year cancellara scores enough points to put them 17th in the rankings so they get to do all the grand tours the following year with a bunch of old men and neo-pro's

Actually, Cancellara (250pts), McEwan (105pts), Tuft (56pts), Roberts (56pts) gives them 467pts from just these 4 riders - about 30pts clear of Team Sky's total points for the year (at 435 according to the UCI website) so were they to secure Cancellara, they would be well inside the top 17 this year. And their "old men and neo pros" couldn't do much worse than the big black bus did in their first year on the big stage.

PWS Eijssen is/was Avery's team, just saying.

Personally, I think Cancellara is going to go with BMC; they're Swiss, they already have raced the Tour and Giro as well as a bunch of other big races this year and they've got a pretty stacked classics roster that can help him a lot, especially with Boonen next year and whoever else is going be surprise.

Don't forget, Fly V has Phil Zajicek. He really knows how to "Prepare" for big races.

You're kidding right? I really don't think Zajicek plays with the 'gear' and he's an OK domestic rider who places there or thereabout a bit, wins very rarely and I don't think he will do a thing in Europe. I might end up regretting saying that, but there - said it anyway.

Oh, he does not use it. He just buys it. You know, like Dario Frigo, he likes to keep it around just in case. Peace of mind and all. It gives one confidence to have the tools available if the need should ever arise.

Fly V? More like Flying High.

The only thing linking Cancellera to FlyV is the manager Chris White's big talk. I think he is just trying to drum up publicity by doing this. I doubt very much Cancellera will end up at Gillette/FlyV.

Cancellera will go to BMC (for $$ and/or nation's pride) or the Schleck team (to be with his buds and continue the momentum they've established racing together).

BTW, I think White's big talk has been effective (a bit transparent), but effective at raising awareness for the team among fans and more importantly riders. They will race well next year I'm pretty sure. The buzz he's generating now, coupled with a strong early season showing will put him in a good position to do early rider deals next year.

I think its a stretch for Gillette/FlyV to get a protour licence next year but they will be a very solid proconti team. If White locks in on some key guys early next year they will be in a good position to go ProTour in 2012.

Am I missing something? Has Zajicek been linked to Papp or something? Or are you just basing this off his positive at Qing Hai lake 10yrs ago or whenever when he took an over the counter asthma med with psuedo ephedrine in it?

I don't follow all the doping news, I know Zajicek rode for the dirtiest team in the US for a few years, has a historic positive. But still, I just don't think he's dirty. And its not like he sets the world on fire with his results...

He was talking a week or so ago about getting offers that included a future for him after his cycling career. I think Andy Rihs has the best chance of making an offer like that.

A bid for slick Mick would no doubt get a few points in the bag (Cali & andilucia) and gain a bit of attention from race organisers from a credible gc perspective.
