Help me, is this Sagan starting to sprint to bridge into the first echelon? Watch the video here

https://youtu.be/ZeXEPOKKFps?t=2520

I do not have access to a HD version of the video and you can see it only for few seconds, but it does look his style.

No.
Which Slovakian rider with a black helmet do you then think it was?

Not to mention that Terpstra is clearly missing from the lead group at that moment, so we know it was still possible to bridge.

I don't think it's a Slovakian rider.

What country do you then think said rider is from? Btw, when is the first time you see Sagan in the front group (I don't see him at all during the formation of the group, other than in the still just posted)?

I think it's an Italian, I think there is too much white visible on the kit. Sagan is in that group and must have bridged as you see him there earlier on in the video, I just don't think that's him.

100% sure it is sagan. Him and Terpstra.

It was 4 of them who got back: Terpstra, Sagan, Groenewegen and De Kort. Last two got dropped again with others upfront

yup, it's quite obvious it was sagan. If you start watching the videos sooner than it starts on the link, you can clearly identify sagan, and 3-4 dutch guys. They're coming from quite back of the second echelon. Then, on the right hand corner, you can see sagan almost bridged, while the dutch are still on front of the 2nd echelon. I actually believe, that sagan not braking into that corner might have significant impact on him bridging a little bit sooner than the dutch guys.

Well he said he thought he was the last one to bridge. Nevertheless, even if he said he was the last one to bridge, it doesn't automatically mean he was the last. Terpstra and de Koert were the last. They were still chasing when sagan was already in the 1st group.

That was not Sagan he was even more behind with Dutch riders.Sagan was lucky and perfectly read road(not panicking at all) because after split was sharp corner(where everyone slow down but Sagan that time sprinting to catch first group).

Yep Tepstra and De Kort reach first group after Sagan right at the corner.

Sorry I started the discussion in two threads.

Btw, It's pity that we did not have any helicopter pictures of the echelons!! where was it?

Too windy...

We needed a moto behind the first echelon as well to see who were getting dropped, but I guess regarding rider safety it was best not to have one there.

Yeah, pretty sure that's a very bad idea logistically although it would be good if it worked. Would also result in people trying to use the moto to bridge/not drop etc.

My too windy comment was a little tongue in cheek by the way :)

here is a good video analysis of how was split formed and where was sagan at that time:

Thanks a lot- What a pity we could not see more of the fight of some people from second group to get to first one.
Anyway those 5 minutes of the race were amazing.
I wish Bonnen will win at least one more big race. Preferebly PR. So the never ending pelemic about Cance and Boonen has another fuel. I would not mind Sagan being second then.

So, maybe the curse of the rainbow jersey was in reverse for Sagan: losing every race in the year(s) prior to winning de world's.
That's what really happened ...
