Hi guys,
My name is John and I am a PhD student currently doing research in Sport Psychology at the University of New England, Armidale NSW. I am keen competitive cyclist and I regularly compete at regional TT, road and MTB events.
However, I must admit beyond the self introduction I have a motive. I am currently seeking help from the competitive cycling community (worldwide) from all disciplines to have their say about their competitive experiences. Hence the survey link below. My research topic is called Buddhism on a Bike: Tailoring Mindfulness-Acceptance to Promote Flow in Competitive Cyclists. I am hoping to find as many competitive cycling enthusiasts as I can to help by the end of the month. So I would love to receive your anonymous perspective on your competitive experiences, at any level, be it in MTB, road, track, tri or time trial. The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete fully, however, if you only have time for the first half then that would be great as well. So please have a look at the survey link below. In addition I invite any questions and opinions you may have, it is all welcome.

Just so you know the results of the survey will be used towards the research and the development of mental skill accusation for cyclists. As we speak I am finalising the protocol for an 8-week mental skills workshop that focuses on shaping attention (via mindful-acceptance skill training) to learn how to sustain deep longer concentration, even in the presence of adverse physical and mental conditions (i.e., anxiety and pain). I postulate that a committed practice utilising these skills will not only increase cycling performance it will also promote flow and psychological wellbeing. If you are interested to know more please send me a message, I am more than happy to chat.
Thanks, I am looking forward to your thoughts.
John
