Did you know that a Garmin guy took down Kennaugh? Did you also know that it was Ryder Hesjedal that was the one who did it and later apologized for it?

Did you also know that Kennaugh was down in the ditch and had to climb back out because when and where he crashed was not easily seen by the race officials and the team cars?

If you didn't know these things, you should find video of today's stage. One might guess that it was the most disastrous crash ever from how many times it was mentioned.

Thanks, Phil. Thanks, Paul.

I think Phil has just given up. Didn't he say he would have retired when he 'found out' about Armstrong. But he couldnt because he had a contract until 2015? Surely it's better to let the old man out to pasture? He cant even talk properly. They obviously do very little preparation and just 'wing it' everyday, relying on experience and the same old cliches.

I love it when they announce the NBSsn sweepstakes. Yes you too can have Christian Vandevelde crash with you in your home town. Just log on to.....

My favourite was when Phil announced that Kwaitkowski was going to win a stage and that because he had been riding at the front of the pelo for most of stage 10 he might upset the sprinters. He has no idea anymore

Now Phil, the viewers are probably aware that Mark Cavendish comes from the Isle of Man, a small island in the Irish Sea. What they are probably not aware of is that Peter Kennaugh, who we see here in the colours of Team Sky, is also a Manxman.

Indeed he is Paul. Now, this is actually Kennaugh's debut in the Tour, the reason being that he missed the race to concentrate on winning an Olympic Gold in the team pursuit, something which he achieved along with his fellow Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas.

Very true Phil, now we haven't seen the best of Thomas in the race so far this year, the reason being that he crashed on stage one and suffered a small fracture of the pelvis. The remarkable thing is that he has managed to continue in the race and we see him there in the colours of Team Sky, of course Team Sky is the home of our race leader Chris Froome who we see there wearing the yellow jersey.

Indeed we do, Paul, now Chris Froome, although he rides for Great Britain, was actually born and brought up in Kenya, a country located in Eastern Africa. However, he has chosen to represent Britain here as he qualifies through his parentage. Some of our viewers will remember that Chris Froome actually finished second in the race last year behind his fellow Team Sky rider, Bradley Wiggins.

Spot on, Phil, now, some viewers will be wondering where Bradley Wiggins is this year, very sadly he was forced to pull out of the race with a knee injury. Wiggins, like Thomas and Kennaugh is a former Olympic Gold medalist on the track.

As you say that, Paul, into the picture comes Stuart O'Grady, now this popular Aussie actually won an Olympic medal in Barcelona as long ago as 1992. Incredibly he is still a force today and was part of the Orica Greenedge team which won the team time trial last week.

Repeat ad nauseum.

Very good, I could hear P&P saying each and every one of those tired old anecdotes.

Phil just had another classic one.....right then, describing Andy Schleck coming home in his not so good TT.

'And he's exploded all over Normandy today'

LOL.....you just can't make this stuff up. Well Phil can;)

Exactly -that's what they are there for.

Do they get worse every season?
Yes
Richeypen said:
or is it just that we forget just how bad they are over the close season?
No

I get sick of the repetitive drivel. If I hear Paul Sherwin say one more time that the safest place to ride in the peloton is at the front of the race I'll scream. If you follow his logic if everyone rides in the front 1/3 there'd be no crashes.

Everyone has their use-by date. Those two have passed theirs.

Ah, no it's not. They are there to enlighten us with information we didn't know and increase our enjoyment of watching. Not treat us like morons and insult our intelligence.

As a giant fan of Euskaltel - I must admit they are getting almost ridiculous to listen to!!

I can't believe how much BS and totally incorrect stuff they talk about the lesser known Euski riders.

It makes me scared as to all of the other unknowns - my only information is from Phil and Paul on some of those unknowns . . . that's terrifying!!

Quick eg's;
"Here's Urtasun of Euskaltel Euskadi - quite the climber" - (SPRINTER)
"Here's Lobato of Euskaltel Euskadi - got himself the KOM points, he's obviously quite the climber, being from the Basque country" - (PURE SPRINTER)
"Here's Ruben Perez of Euskaltel Euskadi" - etc, etc

"*Insert name* - he's from the basque country - obviously can tackle the mountains!"

"This is...(reads number, checks starters list) Gorka Izagirre, this is his first tour" - FINISHED 39th LAST YEAR

"Euskaltel, in order to stay competitive in the Tour this year have branched out and signed riders from around the world" - NONE OF THEM IN THE TOUR...

--

So those examples happen almost every stage of every year!!

There are a few teams I don't know that well - Sojasun, Argos, etc - so it freaks me out that all of the things P&P say about those riders is possibly (probably... surely) entirely incorrect.

--

Having said that... the other end of the spectrum is Keenan... not my cup of tea - but at least you can learn a thing or two while your ears bleed.

The only thing they know about any Euskatel rider is that Sanchez is the former Olympic champion. They have mentioned this over a thousand times since he won Gold in 2008.

Paul Sherwen: "I think Andy Schleck is riding a great tour"

On what planet? He did terrible on the climbs and the tt. Give me a break.

With Sanchez not racing this year, any Euskatel rider they can't identify becomes Igor Anton by default.

On a separate note, Paul annoys me every time he sees Fuglsang he feels the need to say that Brajkovic was the Astana leader going in to the tour, and that it is now Fuglsang by default. I'd put up with this if it was correct - but to my knowledge (as always...) it isn't!

He hasn't done terrible on the climbs, bad TT yes, but not bad on the climbs. He hung with the front group the whole way on stage 9, and most of the way up ax3 (don't forget everyone was dropped there at some point).

For once I would actually agree with Sherwen, he's doing well thus far this Tour. He won't win or podium it, but it's wishful thinking to think he would have anyways.
