I was waiting for him to wink at Tommo when he said that...

UpTheRoad said:Did you know that a Garmin guy took down Kennaugh? Did you also know that it was Ryder Hesjedal that was the one who did it and later apologized for it?
Did you also know that Kennaugh was down in the ditch and had to climb back out because when and where he crashed was not easily seen by the race officials and the team cars?
If you didn't know these things, you should find video of today's stage. One might guess that it was the most disastrous crash ever from how many times it was mentioned.
Thanks, Phil. Thanks, Paul.

Bernie's eyesore said:Now Phil, the viewers are probably aware that Mark Cavendish comes from the Isle of Man, a small island in the Irish Sea. What they are probably not aware of is that Peter Kennaugh, who we see here in the colours of Team Sky, is also a Manxman.
Indeed he is Paul. Now, this is actually Kennaugh's debut in the Tour, the reason being that he missed the race to concentrate on winning an Olympic Gold in the team pursuit, something which he achieved along with his fellow Team Sky rider Geraint Thomas.
Very true Phil, now we haven't seen the best of Thomas in the race so far this year, the reason being that he crashed on stage one and suffered a small fracture of the pelvis. The remarkable thing is that he has managed to continue in the race and we see him there in the colours of Team Sky, of course Team Sky is the home of our race leader Chris Froome who we see there wearing the yellow jersey.
Indeed we do, Paul, now Chris Froome, although he rides for Great Britain, was actually born and brought up in Kenya, a country located in Eastern Africa. However, he has chosen to represent Britain here as he qualifies through his parentage. Some of our viewers will remember that Chris Froome actually finished second in the race last year behind his fellow Team Sky rider, Bradley Wiggins.
Spot on, Phil, now, some viewers will be wondering where Bradley Wiggins is this year, very sadly he was forced to pull out of the race with a knee injury. Wiggins, like Thomas and Kennaugh is a former Olympic Gold medalist on the track.
As you say that, Paul, into the picture comes Stuart O'Grady, now this popular Aussie actually won an Olympic medal in Barcelona as long ago as 1992. Incredibly he is still a force today and was part of the Orica Greenedge team which won the team time trial last week.
Repeat ad nauseum.
Just to defend him briefly, the word is "arrears", not "the rears".Boeing said:"Quite literally every second counts in this years tour de france" Phil
"I think we could be looking at 2-2 and a half minutes in the rears when we do the additions" Paul

wpsracing78 said:As a giant fan of Euskaltel - I must admit they are getting almost ridiculous to listen to!!
I can't believe how much BS and totally incorrect stuff they talk about the lesser known Euski riders.
It makes me scared as to all of the other unknowns - my only information is from Phil and Paul on some of those unknowns . . . that's terrifying!!
Quick eg's;
"Here's Urtasun of Euskaltel Euskadi - quite the climber" - (SPRINTER)
"Here's Lobato of Euskaltel Euskadi - got himself the KOM points, he's obviously quite the climber, being from the Basque country" - (PURE SPRINTER)
"Here's Ruben Perez of Euskaltel Euskadi" - etc, etc
"*Insert name* - he's from the basque country - obviously can tackle the mountains!"
"This is...(reads number, checks starters list) Gorka Izagirre, this is his first tour" - FINISHED 39th LAST YEAR
"Euskaltel, in order to stay competitive in the Tour this year have branched out and signed riders from around the world" - NONE OF THEM IN THE TOUR...
--
So those examples happen almost every stage of every year!!
There are a few teams I don't know that well - Sojasun, Argos, etc - so it freaks me out that all of the things P&P say about those riders is possibly (probably... surely) entirely incorrect.

Having said that... the other end of the spectrum is Keenan... not my cup of tea - but at least you can learn a thing or two while your ears bleed.
Bernie's eyesore said:The only thing they know about any Euskatel rider is that Sanchez is the former Olympic champion. They have mentioned this over a thousand times since he won Gold in 2008.
