Anyone have any info on these things?

Looks like they have laces.
Merely respect to the old-school overshoes/tassels or the real deal?

He started using them last year at Giro if I recall correctly, but they went on sale just this past winter.

The best pair of cycling shoes I had were laced. I only got racheted ones because I did a duathlon with my brother and he beat me because I had the worst or close to the worse splits because of the laces.

Giro Lace-ups.

Sorry I was lazy.

"Giro created the shoes as a one-off after the soccer-obsessed Phinney told designers that he had always loved the look of Nike’s Mercurial soccer cleat when he was a kid"

Heh, I always thought they were very similar to those Nikes

I don't like the pink shoes, but the ones in the first picture look very nice indeed, very old-school. If I could afford them I would seriously think about buying a pair.

I would be just a little worried about the laces getting caught in the chainrings. Maybe with a velcro closure at top.

Ugliest shoe on the market, which is saying something.

Non è bello ciò che è bello, ma è bello ciò che piace. ;)

I do agree with veganrob, a velcro on the top would be a good idea to keep things tidy.
