What team would you ride for and what would you do for that team(i.e. climbing domestique, TT specialiast, Classics specialist, etc.)?

Cool thread.

I would have to pick Rabobank as a Classics specialist. They could have used some help this spring.

I think "some help" is an understatment there! I also think they'd NEED a resurgent RDV to knock Quick Step off the cobbled throne at this point.

As for the OP, that's tough--especially during this transition period between the Classics and the GTs. Right now I still have Classics fever, so I'd do that as a domestique (I can't even imagine myself hanging with the captains in those races, but I'd love to ride them!).

But in another month or so, I'd want to be a grand tour domestique. (Again, I couldn't handle the stress of captain-ship.)

And the team...Probably a French team, since they need the help more than Rabo ;). I'm thinking Cofidis, but maybe FDjeux so I can get my hands on a Lapierre!

I would ride for any team rocking Time bikes, but are there any left in the PorTour?

There are a lot of options here.

Blood courier would be cool. It would be a little James Bondish to slip my motorcycle with refrigerated paniers in and out of the countries of europe, avoiding the vigilant eyes of the gendarme.

Official "venga man" would not be too hard. All you would have to do is yell, "Venga! Venga! Venga!" at time trialers.

Evans job looks freakin' sweet. You would get paid a metric buttload and never have to win anything.

Liguigas would be great for the Giro and the snappy duds.

I'd have to be a time Trial Specialist for Astana. I'd never lose, you've seen how easily they turned Contador in to a Time Trialer! I'd be faster than Cancellara.

Although, really, I'd have to be a Classics specialist - riding for small team, so I can slip away without those Quick Step boys picking me off. Cervelo Test team perhaps - I always looked cool in Black. Or Garmin, I kinda like those Felt AR's.

I'd have to go for a classics specialist/lead out man for Saxo Bank.

Not really a classics team, so you wouldn't be expected to ride on the front, leave that to Quickstep.

It's a very established team, so respect in the peloton wouldn't be a problem.

They have legit sprinters, so you'd mix it up at the end of the flat stages with out having to worry about having the pressure to win it in the end.

Descent looking kits.

American bike sponsor which would mean that you'd be able to race occasionally on home soil.

J Mac would be a teammate and I'm a big J Mac fan.

My choice of team would be based on what team mates I would have.

I think it would be fun to have a George Hincapei type of role in Team Columbia. To be the old experienced mentor to alot of talented young riders. I would get the chance to captain for some classics but at the same time be a crucial domestique for the team in the tour.

I think the Super Domestique role for Tom Boonen would be great a la Devolder in RVV. Get to help out the big fella and grab a bit of glory for yourself too.

Um Fabian Cancellara's personal masseuse. Or anyone who'd have me!

No seriously, Cervelo (I have a Soloist and love their bikes, plus they seem to just have a really good team). I was very jealous of Carla Ryan this year winning both the Road and ITT Aussie National champs and getting to ride for the Cervelo women's team.

If I was a guy either Cervelo or Saxo Bank (I'd love to get into Riis' mind and do their training camps).

I'd be happy as a domestique and ITT specialist.

BroDeal, you couldn't handle the pressure! How could you post a reply to every stupid smart a$%* comment made about you in every cycling forum out there.

I know you would buy a great team to do all the work for you and make you look good. But on the Silence-Lotto budget you could only get one girl who has a great resume but doesn't produce on the day.

Oh well, keep dreaming of Cadel, we know you love him.

Lead out man for Cav. Imagine sprinting your heart out and then being able to sit back and watch him fly past you, and pretty much everyone else out there. Best view in the house.

Or if that was not an option, any job at Cervelo would be fine. And that is just to get my hands on one of their bikes.

Any Italian teams that used Campagnolo components and the wrench, of course.

In that case we could also take the job of ANY member of Silence Lotto (even though I really think Gilbert is on the verge of busting loose!)

If I was on silence lotto I could just sight see and then let evans blame me for him losing and then go to a strong team and then help their leaders win.
