Don't bury the content. Less is more.

Agreed. The more you sub it out, the harder it is to keep track of posting. (yes, I know that we can go to the CP and look for our posts, but this too is a pain in the ass I like the three sections now.) Leave it the way it is.

Kind of good to see this thread resurrected.

I like the idea of a Cafe.

Next year, I like the idea of a Tour de France forum. I don't think an Astana thread is necessary. Though I can see Dim's pov.

Otherwise, things are holding up pretty well. I think it's better to have too few forums, than too many. Some sites have like 50 separate forums, and it's impossible or daunting to sift through, especially for new members.

I've been thinking about this for a while. Instead of subfolders how about utilizing sortable tags, which have to be declared by the thread-starter prior to publication. I would use the some variant of the following:

Grand Tour race
Pro Tour race
Championship (world and national)
Major continental
Minor continental
Predictions
Gossip and News

The advantage of this is all threads are still in one folder, but organized such that each member can filter out the topics they find uninteresting. For example, someone more interested in the spring classics than my silly early season predictions can click on ProTour and see on page one only those threads.

Further, I would only make sticky the next race(s) coming up, to be unsticky after full results have been posted. perhaps also set a requirement so that Jr Members (and people inactive for over 4 months) can not post new threads without approval.

_____

But if you are going to use subfolders, how about this:

Lance obsessive (both pro and anti)
all others...

+1... I really like this idea. :D

.... especially with some kind of "checkable" selection tool at the top of the page. ie. I could select (check) "ProTour" and "Grand Tour" and only see those threads, and go through them carefully, and then select "Gossip" for a quick once-over.
