Posting Photos

I have just received another message from a user who cannot post photos in the forum, and I was forced to admit that I myself have never figured it out.

Can someone please help? A brief description of how it works?

Step 2: Choose hosting service : http://www.imgur.com / http://www.imageshack.us
Step 3: Select file to upload
Step 4: File gets uploaded, select the right link and use forum code.. in this case [ img ] <insert link> [ /img ]
Step 5: ???????
Step 6: Profit

Atleast, since the last time ive posted, there hasnt been an upload file directly from PC option, so this is the way to do it.

Or if it's on the web just right click then select "copy picture URL" (I think, I only know the dutch version) but with Internet explorer this is not an option I believe.

Also on google click the pic then click "full size image"(again I'm not sure if that's the way it's named) on the right side then copy the URL

Imgur works really well

Imgur.com is a great choice with it's handy (optional) Edit feature.
And it can upload images directly from the web to your albums.

Upload; Browse or Drag/Drop from your computer.
Or get the image from a web page. Use right mouse click on the image for the image URL.

Check the Edit Box if you plan to edit an image.

Edit (optional step) Advanced options shown. *You should have checked the Edit Box in 1st step if you plan to edit an image.

Get forum code: Use BBC Code and copy/paste into the forum post.

As for the snakes, rattlers somewhere...though being winter, I am guessing they are camped out deep. Two islands north (St. Simons) has one of the highest rattlesnake populations per square mile of anywhere in the country.

I upload a pic from my computer to my photobucket album, which thus has a web address. It also has the handy facility of providing the bookends

Clip2net is another online picture service. It also gives you some editing and markup tools. I like it for the ability to take a screen shot of any portion of your screen - or all of it.

Resizing images.

A Guide On How To Resize Images: Part 1

To start of I want to show the three different scenarios. Green light, yellow light and red light:

1) When an image isn't too big and everything is fine.

2) When an image is a little too big, so you still can see the whole image without any scrolling, but the image widens the screen.

3) When an image is way too big, and you have to scroll right to see the end of it.



1) Green light:



Everything is as it should be here I can scroll down and up, but not left and right. Images that are 960 pixels wide or slimmer fit in this category, so when I as a mod resize other's images, I make them 960 pixels wide.


2) Yellow light:



Unlike the first scenario, I can now scroll left and right because the image has widen the screen. The widening of the screen will result in (amongst others) that the quick-reply button will be further to the right. If you have found an image that will fall under this category you don't have to resize it, as it really isn't that much of a problem. However if you find an image that'll fall under the third category, I'd advise you to resize it to a category 1.


3) Red light:



Now here it is a problem. The image is so wide that I have to scroll right to see the rest of it. The quick-reply button (and others) are now moved so far to the right that I have to scroll to reach them. This is certainly not optimal, and annoys many others. An image like this should either be resized or posted as a link.

A Guide On How To Resize Images: Part 2

Now we're at the fun part!

There's a picture that needs to be resized. There's different ways to do this, but I'll just show the one I primarily use. I start with right-clicking the image and choosing 'Copy Image' (Kopier billede):

I then go to http://www.imgur.com and start with uploading the selected image, by clicking the 'upload image' icon:

As I copied the image, I use the paste/Ctrl+V option, and as I wish to edit/resize it, I also tick the 'edit' box:

The box 'lock proportions' is automatically ticked which it shall remain. We can see that the image is 1599 pixels wide, which is what we'll do something about:

So we click the box with the '1599', type '960' and we hit Enter. Now we click 'Save':

Now our image is resized, and all we have to do is to copy the image URL:
