How does getting smashed up by the Australians fit in with your Wiggins track v road narrative?

Wallace and Gromit said:England did 3:59 in qualifying and then 4:00 in the final, which doesn't raise too many questions about how Wiggins has got up to track speed so quickly, as he's not really up to speed yet. Bobridge dropping back into the Aussie quartet and almost ripping the formation apart with his pulls mid-race in 3:54 might raise more questions, one might think!
Wallace and Gromit said:Agreed. I was just teasing Dear Wiggo, who I think was looking forward to Wiggo powering the team to a 3:51 so he could claim further proof that talent levels on the track are low as a roadie with a few weeks training can drop straight back in at world record pace.
Dear Wiggo said:Pretty sure Bobridge's quickest IP time would see him finish on the podium in the TP at these games.
Dear Wiggo said:No. It's enough for me that the dominant BC track team can be infiltrated by a roadie has been

They went quicker than at worlds.
I'll try to ignore the Admin/Mod trolling me and his squeaky little friend, Jimmy.
Jack Bobridge (Australia) took home his second gold medal of the Commonwealth Games in as many days, despite only two weeks of training on the track. Bobridge beat his teammate Alex Edmondson in the men's individual pursuit final on Friday, one day after he helped his Australian team win the men's team pursuit, to defend both his titles from the Deli games in 2010
Was it with the superman position?Wallace and Gromit said:Between the IP and the TP in the 1996 World Champs, Boardman's IP record was faster than the GB team pursuit record!
That said, Bobridge was only just under 4:20 today in qualifying and was riding quite early, so probably wasn't coasting.
The point was that to focus on the track and the road would be difficult. Bobridge may have been able to jump back to the track but how good have his road results been? You like your data points so perhaps you can give me his top 3 GT finishes on GC?Dear Wiggo said:Just for a counter point to all the, "Wiggo couldn't ride road coz he was concentrating on the track', "do you even know how they train for track" yadda yadda.
About to lose his contract at Belkin. Should be able to podium Vuelta, right?

As you mention it looks like he might well lose his contract so maybe he likes his drink as much as Wiggins.
the sceptic said:I think the problem for Wiggins is that he feels guilty about doping so much.
Remember he used to be the first guy to talk about dopers, but then he joined them and doped more than the guys he hated in the first place. It cant be easy to deal with this on a personal level.

So no data points then? Probably for the best. I am getting rather bored pointing out the holes in your arguments.Dear Wiggo said:Yeah. Anyone who gets to the final week of the Tour - clean - with that much self loathing is seriously suffering cognitive dissonance.
Poor kid.
No wonder he's running and hiding at the Manchester velodrome.
I guess it shows just how deep the talent pool on the track really is.Don't be late Pedro said:The point was that to focus on the track and the road would be difficult. Whoops....
So it seems. Especially when it's a 24yo with rheumatoid arthritis whose favourite pastime is cutting donuts in Spanish strip club car parks...Dear Wiggo said:Hey now. Winning gold medals with 4 minute performances is justification for smashing the best riders of the world for 3 weeks non-stop at the Tour.
Apparently.
Or something.
