Apparently, he thought he was leading out Haussler. Instead, he handed Chicchi a nice win.
And oh, I heard Taylor Phinney farted today.

Ditto. Already getting a little tired of hearing about him. Let the kid build some form and results in the pro peloton before broadcasting his name at every opportunity!

Great win for Chicchi, and Haussler can rest easy knowing that he's in form and looking to have a strong spring campaign with a few strong helpers. (And speaking of spring, what happened to Boonen? Caught out by the technical layout of the final?)

I think you should relax a bit. He gets about the same mentions that Boasson-Hagen and Boom do from fans from their respective countries at similar stages in their careers.

It's fun to discuss young talents. Until someone else starts doing something a bit more noticeable from the US like Van Garderen or Stetina, most US fans are going to keep an eye out for Phinney. It's his first Cat 1 stage race... and he's doing pretty well. Why worry about it?

yeah i agree, I'm not interested in the guy's results personally (boom however :p ) but I can understand the excitement, and need to discuss his progress.

I dislike sky, I dunno why... but i do.

Get used to it.

The first teaser headline I saw this morning said something about Phinney bla bla in sprint, beats Boonen. Had to look all the way down to the results to see that they were 8th and 11th.
Bigger news though was that feature story on Team Shack doing.......well, nothing today, they had a day off. But it was news!

uhm no, EBH was 17th. Not that it makes it much better, but get your facts right!

On the forum, maybe. On the website, however, it's Phinney this, Phinney that.

Well, he's a contributor. Since they're publishing his posts I'm sure they want to keep people interested in him.

Wow, Phinney fans: chill out. Everything's ok. Your boy's getting the attention you feel he warrants. Sorry for bringing it up.

Just note that the race coverage is starting to take on that perspective as described by Hugh Januss, where the race is presented not in terms of who won/animated it but how the current favorite of the anglo media faired.

Also note, I'm excited about Phinney, too, but I have not pledged allegiance to coverage RE him alone. Read the story CN published on Stage 4 and tell me: Who took 4th? 5th? 6th? 7th? You may find out, but not until you scroll through the entire story to the end, 19 paragraphs after you learn about Phinney's amazing 8th place.

So yeah, go Phinney, but what about those other guys? Let's try to drop the linguaphile tendencies in the coverage of international sports and celebrate the accomplishments of all the atheletes.
