It's honestly sad that these type of riders attach so much value to what is essentially ordinary statpadding, instead of taking a chance at a very realistic elite bronze. Same applies to Backstedt tomorrow, who even has a decent shot at gold.

Brand would of course most likely have lost the sprint anyway, but still a shame that she got stuck there.

Always felt like Van Empel was going to have a little bit more left for the very end, at least she made it interesting by continuing to change bikes in the second half of the lap.

Brand must be sick of losing really tight battles for world titles, that's four silvers now and the third of those where she came close.
