Congratulations on the most uninspired GT/podium challenge I think I have ever seen. 
Probably the only rider in the entire Giro peloton that didn't attack.

Yeah I'm a fan of Majka but not being the best climber of the race isn't an excuse to not even try. Kreuziger was never the best climber but that never stoped him from trying to win stages in lots of GT's. It's embarassing that everyone tried to do something and Majka was following wheels all the time trying nothing. It seems so odd to see him riding for the same team as Contador.
I like him so I really hope he changes his mentality for the future, specially now that a top10 in a GT has no further meaning for his career.

He got a podium at the Vuelta ...but that was uninspiring as well
So what else is he capable of ?? ....more of the same I'd say
One poster saying why is there so much Makja hate...there is not hate towards the rider . I 'm sure he did his best without doing anything beyond the ordinary.. However I'm posting here to re balance the hype so many on here have subjected the rest of us to about this rider

Majka said yesterday that he didn't have enough power to attack favourites in Giro and he didn't feel well. I think one brave attack could end his hope of top ten. 5th place is the best place for polish rider in history of Giro.

i think i saw him maximum three times all this year and there were all in the MTT. congrats. zenon jaskula must be proud.

Majka and some of his fans seem to think you can only attack if you're feeling stellar and are better than your rivals. That's a recipe for never doing anything ever, and it ignores the whole history of the sport, including what's happening every day before Majka's eyes.

I agree with those above who said that he had not enough strenght to do anything more, so the best tactics for him was just to hang on with the best as long as he can, without launching suicide attacks. If he is satisfied with the 5th place in the GC, that is fine to me. It shows that at the moment he is not able to fight for higher GC ranks and he knows it. And if he is able to finish a GT 5th in the GC without engaging himself into a single attack in the mountains, that is only good for him, I think.
I also disagree that he should attack at all cost (even bearing in mind that he was a GC contender/GC team leader) when he simply had no legs to do it. His job in this Giro was not to entertain people watching the race - it was to get the highest GC rank possible (which he did, thanks to this ennoying and hardly watchable tactics he has opt for).
Well, Majka has a 36 pages thread for various reasons, i.a. because of (i) posts including solely the questions why he has such a thread; (ii) posts including "Majka jokes"; (iii) posts including opinions based on emotions only, such like "what a coward", (iv) posts regarding Betancur, van den Broeck etc. (but not Majka). Yep. This is common knowledge that you should attack when you're barely holding wheel of the favorites group. Do and epic 3 second attack then get dropped and finish 10 minutes behind. Then you will be respected rider on this forum... Or you'll be object of jokes for couple of days... One of those. Of course sponsors will be ecstatic too when you drop of GC competition with one stupid move. This is what they are hoping for. This glorious 3 seconds of being cycling god. Who the hell cares about GC battle presence and team kit exposure.

If I didn't follow cycling much and didn't already know what team Majka rode for, I would literally have no idea what the sponsor on his kit was - whenever I saw him, he was behind other riders. All I would know was that he's Polish and rides for a team with the abbreviation 'TNK' from the GC standings that flash up at the end of every stage.
And Nibali wasnt the strongest this Giro and still attacked. Look where he ended up.

But it doesn't need to come to that: Majka could actually move before that point, trying to take advantage of the tactical situation and what not. Get a gap while the other contenders watch each other or aren't willing to go near their limit yet. Get ahead. You know, just the same way tons of other riders do it, like, all the time, often with good results.
Virtually everyone else in the top 10 gave it a go at some point. Were they all the strongest at that point? Of course not.
Thanks for illustrating my point. For Majka and many of his fans, any moves are stupid unless Majka is the strongest and can beat everyone in a frontal assault.Arked said:

Nibali surely was strongest in the last two mountain stages. I know for a fact that Majka wanted to do same thing as Nibali did (which means at least win one stage) but he was simply to weak. Cycling is not only about wanting but also about being able to do what you want. Physiology is too big deal in this sport. You can't do much with good decisions, bravery or even blind luck when you lack basic physical ability. This is not football or any other sport with huge impact of randomness.

He had little to lose and he could obviously have done something himself or with his team on Bonette. At the end he lost time to Nibali, Valverde and Uran (way behind in gc) and gained on both Chaves and Kruijswijk. If Bonette had been raced selectively, perhaps Kruijswijk would have cracked, who knows.
