BTW, this is an absolute SCANDAL! There are only 33 non-climbing ITT kilometers.... OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

i presume you're attacking those like me who were whining about tdf route.i guess you still don't get it.in giro we have at least ten stages in which GC contenders can fight and take minutes.in le tour we'll have just six(including TTT and ITT) and probably 2 of the MTF will be neutralized.so yes,a long ITT before the pyrenees could have shaked things a little bit.but enough for le tour route discussions.we'll have a great giro next year!

It is sick route from sick organizers. In 2006 everyone was very excited about the route which was declared the hardest in 30 years... and it ended in the most boring GT ever which Basso won with 9 minute advantage over the second place...

However, it is not necessary to make a route ala TDF 2009 with 3 single col MTF stages and only one GC stage with decent. But.. 7 MTF with so many other hard climbs in almost each of those stages are other form extremism...

You better not bring Graeme Brown or Kenny van Hummel to this race, they would probably die doing this race

Not sure how making a race too hard should rate the bottom score available.
Surely making a race far too easy should be reserved for the one score?
Oh well, there's always the Tour, if you want an easier race.:p

Ridiculous route. How many positives will this race return:(

What does Cuddle say in this video?

Cant find that amazing Giro 2010 Highlights reel. Was hoping it would have been buried somewhere between those stage videos.
I wish I knew, any italian speakers out there?

I gave it a seven, personally the points it loses to not get a 10 is the ttt, the lack of itt km's and i think they could of got rid of one or two mtn stages. Too many. But I guess it is il giro.

Stages like Macugnaga and Montevergine (and Nevegal to some extent) add little to the GC race.

9 out of 10. They could have got a perfect 10 if the Strade Bianchi stage was a little more difficult, and if there was more than one difficult stage in the last five days.

yeah, exactly. next year they need to introduce snow - then they get a 10 :)

Only works if it's epic à la Hamsten or with dodgy dealings like 1984 or 1989 in the dolomites.

Voted 7/10 another good Giro route....But why are Grand Tours set up for Climbers only to win?

These days there's never a boring stage during the Giro d'Italia but that's the way the Giro has to be. If the riders want an easy race, with no climbs, no descents, no rain or wind, they should go elsewhere in May. There's no such thing as a descent that is too difficult or a climb too steep.
Angelo Zomegnan

amen Angelo:)

What a beautiful shot at the TOC. He had to say "in May" :)

Zomegnan is a legend for that statement.

Agreed. ToC=marketing excuse for the US sponsored teams. Holding the event in May makes it an irrelevance in terms of meaningful racing.

Zomnegnagn has balls. Anyone who tries to challenge, gets crushed.

The Tour of California comes along to Giro, proclaims itself 2nd to the Tour, and challenges the Giro.

Zomnegnan buries such cockroaches.

This above statement is a nice way of saying "you _ with me, you _ with the best".

Well yeah, the Giro is in May afterall

If you think Zomnegan is telling us that the Giro is in May then you have completely misunderstood.

So what if the Giro is in May. When zomnegan finishes the sentence with "in may", he isnt telling us " oh look the Giro is in may" He is directly attacking another race in may and we know that to be the TOC.

If he had simply said

"If the riders want an easy race, with no climbs, no descents, no rain or wind, they should go elsewhere "

then that is a comment praising the toughness of the Giro d italia course and is exactly were i expected him to stop.

But

"If the riders want an easy race, with no climbs, no descents, no rain or wind, they should go elsewhere IN MAY"

the cheaky little "in May" at the end is a very subtle and hence genius shot at the Tour of California.
