I have barely watched it but this Giro is so obviously backloaded it's pointless to rate it now. You can only rate the course, not the race.

I agree that it's very backloaded. That's a bad race design though, so I can only rate it low. ITTs are always interesting, but the uphill finishes so far have not been hard enough to make a significant difference in the GC battle. One finish made some difference in Cadel's favor but only because of a big crash.

I think the Vuelta is better are throwing in some tough stages earlier in the race to spice things up.

I gave it a six. The GT may have been dull, but it has made for a great set up. Now, with 9 to go, it is clear that there are four different races/groups and for that, you needed that build up.
Group one: maintain for pink & podium 0-37 secs(Uran and Evans)
Group two: attack for podium ~2mins to ~4mins(Nairo, Majka, Pozzovivo, Kelderman, Aru)
Group three: Kamikaze for podium or jerseys (Poel, Morabito, Basso, Hesjedal, Ulissi, Arredono)
Group four: Stage hunters (Basso, Hesjedal, Ulissi, Cunego, Arredondo, Duarte, Rubiano, Sanchez, Rogers, Henao, Roche, Scarponi)

All starts tomorrow and Sunday. Rumor has it that Nairo is no longer on antibiotics and doesn't have to clear his throat every 30 seconds to breath anymore ;)

I have to state, Purito is THE MAN. Showed up to the Giro with 2 BROKEN RIBS, like nothing, hoping to heal enough for this weekend. Would have been an 8 if he was still here.

I'm very dissapointed with todays (16th) stage. The conditions were too hazardous for rider's health. There was nothing imposing about Gavia nor Stelvio. It was actually ugly and such conditions simply aren't suitable for cycling. That's what I think.

But the neutralisation fiasco brought it even lower. Uran's group was clearly softpedaling the descent. It consisted of riders from 6 GC teams. I find it hard to believe that all those teams were wrong. The organiser's excuses are poor. First they were apologising for miscommunication. But later they said they weren't neutralising at all. Why apologise for miscommunication of something that wasn't communicated in the first place? And the plan with motorbikes with red flags in front of each group. Whom are they kidding? There were many riders scattered everywhere on the descent. Correct me if I'm wrong but there was a camera on Cataldo most of the descent but I didn't see any motorbike with red flag in front of him. That sounds more like another excuse and if it is not, they failed big time.

It's a shame because Nairo (and Ryder too) did a beautiful ride. But win like this just leaves a bitter taste. Therefore I give this Giro a 2.

Btw hello everybody and sorry for my complaints.
