An issue has arisen where about a particular posters username.

I realize the Mods are (quite rightly) sensitive to this however it is worthy of discussion and clarification.

This forum allows us all to post anonymously by being allowed to select a username (and avatar) - this allows have an online identification without risking our real identities.
Some people have foregone this and post under their real names (which is their right) - however, some people have chosen REAL names of living people.
While this is not normally an issue as the user is not claiming to be that person and issue has arisen where someone has gone further to vaguely claim they are that person.

If it is the real person, then it is not a problem - however if it is NOT the real person I believe it would be a disgraceful abuse of the forum and indeed could open CN to potential difficulties about misrepresentation of real people.

CN Forum applies rules when it suits them, there are plenty of wrong user names (ProRiders) used by anonymous people.

I bet their waiting for us to issue a warning because "they don't read everything", even if its right in front of some of them.

Guess what doctor you have other users here who have pro riders names. It is not relevant and you are only creating this thread and subsequent drama to try and have me banned.

I should hope that cycling news does not take the route described by this person who claims to be a doctor of all things.

A bit confused about the bolded part - can you provide examples of a vague claim?

He can't Joe. That is because he tried to bait me into telling him if I was John or not.

Sure - one of the things that caught my eye was this exchange

Some have too much investedin LA to ever admit what he has done both in sport and to intimidate people. Perhaps a selective conscience? or is it Con-science?

2008 is old news. Something more updated perhaps? Would you like to point out the investment?

I have no interest in your true identity.

However, you chose a username that is the nickname of a real person (& an interesting avatar) - and have made passionate posts in support of LA, (nothing wrong with that) but it would be grossly unfair to any real person to misrepresent them.

The opportunity was (and is) there to clear that up - then other forum users would know that they are your views, not JHs.

I am glad you used the word "vague", but cannot see how you could construe that as a "claim".

But thank you for quoting the posts.

I am totaly amazed that this forum allows the type of topic about a poster to continue.
I am being trolled.

No problem.
I went back and had another look and found another exchange, which actually was the one that got me to question them:

2008 is not old news, this goes way back and besides, look how you defend him in the face of all that has transpired.
Didn't defending him on the internet a while back win you a free trip to France? The more recent stuff could be your posts on here in the past 3 days, if you prefer. What will you be rewarded with this time?

Freindship = emotional investment = biased opinion = free trip to France.

Keep it up. I am not at all afraid of a fake made up named doctor. You want to talk with me then take it up with the admin of this site. I hide behind no proxy and feel free to find out who i am. But be warned there are a few people who i know the real life ident and yomight find yourself in a state of regret.

As I have already pointed out - those people do not make any sort of claim to be or speak for their usernames.

I am not trying to have you banned. Nor am I interested in your real identity.
The reason I brought up this is because of the potential to abuse a real persons name.
Which is protecting someones real identity, not an online one.

I have never claimed to be a Doctor - Dr. Maserati is my username, nothing more.
The foto is not of me either, sorry to disappoint.

Happy to clear that up.

One last time - I do not want to know your identity (of you are anyone else here).

It is very simple - if you are JH then you chose your username for the purpose to identify yourself, and therefore would be happy to identify yourself and stand by your posts, as others here who post under their real names do.

Or - you are not JH, and are not making any post or giving an opinion on there behalf.
Neither situation detracts from your posts or opinions - but would make clear that you are/or not speaking on behalf of someone.

As for your threat, noted and ignored.

It is amazing that the forum will allow you to do this. I said i am not behind any proxy so help yourself to who i am. The admin and moderators of this site should shut this thread down.

Firstly, i have no idea what that does.
More importantly, i have no interest in finding out your real identity.

The only issue here is you have chosen a relatively well known persons nickname as a username and then make some references that could be read as being the real person.
If you are not that person that would be a very serious abuse of the forum.

I would be more concerned if "this forum" allowed people to assume a real persons persona and viewpoint without checking that they are acting in good faith.

That sounds like a threat there College. Would thoroughly enjoy you making that statement to my face.

i don't own a blackjack......any more :D

actually i thought you were college at first, screwing with everyone because he showed up right around the time you were banned. but then i realized he's been much too polite, so i stick up for him when i see people piling on with the personal attacks instead of arguing the points. at least he's civil, from what i've seen

Sorry Doc - I can understand that you are suspicious, but I still cannot interpret that as a claim.

And College - making veiled threats typically leads to a vacation from the forum. Bad move.
