Too long a sacrifice can make a stone of the heart.
The heartbeat of the forum returns as the two pop culture icons Remco and Roglic battle it out at the Dauphine.

Evenepoel fans want to throw in the towel before it even starts by saying their rider won't compete. I'm not having it.

We'll have our Rog versus Evenepoel duel in the Dauphiné & people will love it. I won't accept anything less.

As a Roglic fan it’s easy to say you want a duel when Remco says he isn’t competing for GC. My bet is that Roglic will win, easily.

Dont know why you are so adament about how Remco is sandbagging and lying. My experience is he says it as it is most often, and his crash was significantly more impactful than Roglic, so its only normal his level in this race is lower.

Do you think it's still likely that Evenepoel will end in the top-10, despite working for his teammates?

With how openly he talks about how the injury is still bothering him (mainly on the TT bike) and how he'll work for Landa and Van Wilder in this race I doubt it's just sandbagging. Sure, it might be the plan for him not to go all out in the fight for the gc right here when he's just coming back from an injury and to focus on the Tour, but I doubt it's just sandbagging.

If I were him I'd sandbag to the moon, for if he is not sandbagging then it's gonna be an ugly next 7 weeks.

If he pulls on the climbs for Landa, I'd be quite surprised.

It can be a bit of both. He's not where he wished he would've been, but he also wants to sell a 4th or 3rd in GC as a success (and do his best to end up as high in GC as he can).

Olympics is his big goal, which it probably was anyway.
No, Tour was the first big goal, with the Olympics a saving grace if all goes well after a disappointing Tour. The problem for him is that everything needed to go to plan to have real Tour GC expectations. But they have not, far from it.

Competition is quite tough so if he’s really riding for Landa and Van Wilder I can see him not finishing top-10. Unless he rides a killer TT

Let's face it, if he's working for Landa and Wilder he is decidedly not fit for the Tour. I'd hate to be in his position with all of Belgium on his shoulders.

No.

I think Tour was always gonna be to see how it goes and for show, with the Olympics as the big goal.

Which Olympics? The TT? I can't see that being more important than winning the Tour, if it were ever a goal and, if not, his career has changed course.

There is only one Olympics, as far as I know.

And yes, it is very evidently so.
