Has anyone mentioned Haussler? The knee injury rendered him moot for much of the classics plus there was that DUI. A year to forget, or at least most of it.

Yeah and just when he got back on track he got into the midst of the Cav-carnage at Tour de Suisse

Gerdemann = most overrated rider of all times.

Can't understand why Team Luxembourg has (most likely) signed him.

Guess he might be a useful Slave of the Mountains. ;)

I am surprised you picked EBH.How about Serge Pauwels

Pauwels did indeed do very little. Unusually though, he seemed to have no excuses ready to explain it.

I'd expected to see a bit more from the kid Augustyn too. They said he was a mountain goat but he didn't seem to climb well so far as I could see.

I would say falling short of expectation.. 14 times he came close but didnt win. injury played a part, tactics played a part, a lot of those 14 times were screw ups. He wasnt the eddy boss of 2008/09
No, he was better. EBH has improved in all areas. Last year there was no way he could top 3 in 50 km time trials, now he can. Last year there was no way he could win a bunch sprint against some of the best sprinters in the world, now he can. And there's no doubt that his climbing has improved massively.

Only his results are worse. A lot of it comes down to having little to no support, quite a few horribly timed leadouts, some bad tactical decisions and a lot of bad luck (like getting sick in TDF just when the stages he could win came along).

Since no one else mentioned the most obvious choices:

Lance Armstong and Alberto Contador

One completely destroyed the legend he had built around himself, and the other... oh wait, they both did.

everything was fine for valverde until he got banned and his results were removed. He shouldnt be on this list but he is thanks to the ban

Totally on the list. That counts as an annus horribilis for him, even if he is a bad bwoy. :)

+1 for Maaskant too. I expected at least a flash of greatness. Another early spring sickness, perhaps?

Philip Deignan now with Radioshack had a bad 2010 mainly due to illness. Hes a lot of potential and hopefully things go well in 2011 for him

i dont think ebh did that badly considering his injury that affected his classics. Which are his speciality and which he gets his results from. At least his tt has improved and he was up there with the best of the best in every tof sprint plus his eneco tour performance. There are too much expectations on him because of his brilliant last year. He still has time to improve. He has done much better compared the other people on that list. Just not to the extremely high expectations.

How the hell did it take us to page 4 to mention Juanjó Cobo?

His first year outside of the Gianetti umbrella. 0 CQ points.

Results:
86th, Trofeo Millor (Mallorca)
DNF, Tour Méditeranéen
52nd, Clasíca Almería
DNF, Paris-Nice
DNF, Critérium International
76th, GP Llodio
38th, Vuelta a la Rioja
DNF, Tour de Romandie
DNF, Dauphiné
DNF, Route du Sud
55th, Vuelta a Madrid
35th, Brixia Tour
42nd, Circuit de Getxo
75th, Vuelta a Burgos
94th, Tour de Limousin
DNF, GP Ouest France-Plouay

That's a DNF in every stage race he entered until July. No finish anywhere higher than 38th. This from someone who won a mountain stage and was top 10 overall in the Vuelta last year, and top 10ed at Lombardy.

I mentioned him on the 1st page. At least it's the first page for me. I've adjusted my settings and this this is only my 2nd page.
