Italian Nats RR (U23) – June 25
Winner Matteo Trentin
I just realized/remember that Trentin was a crosser, though since he signed a contract with Quick Step, I'm not sure he'll stay in the prairies for long: http://www.les-sports.info/cyclo-cross-trentin-matteo-resultats-identite-s17-c2-b4-o2-w57235.html
He was 5th in the U23 Tour of Flanders, winner of the GP della Liberazione, winner of the De Gasperi Trophy, 2nd in the GP Industria del Marmo and 13th in the Baby Giro (4th in the 3rd Stage), among other results. Shame I missed the beginning of his season !
If anyone has the full results of the U23 Italian Nats, I'll be grateful. Would like to know what Silvestri did.
Czechoslovakian Nats RR – June 26
4 Zdenek Stybar (3rd Czech)
10 Karel Hnik (8th Czech and 2nd U23 Czech; 3rd U23 overall?)
26 Martin Zlamalik (20th Czech)
33 Ondrej Bambula (25th Czech)
38 David Kasek (30th Czech)
Radomir Simunek, Lubomir Petrus, Jiri Polnicky, Petr Dlask and Zdenek Mlynar (wow he’s still there!) DNF
Czech and Slovakian feds organized a combined race for their championship. I can't argue that Styby finished 3rd since ex-crosser Sagan finished ahead of him, by the sweat of his brow, whether he be Slovakian or not.
Styby with Sagan and ? Bencik?
Karel Hnik (Fidea) on the podium as 2nd best U23 Czech
Lol, there's a cobbled Flandrian climb in the Czech Republic:
