Rolf Sørensen admits to have used EPO

In an interview on Danish television (TV2), the former Danish cyclist and winner of Liége-Bastogne-Liége and Ronde Van Vlaanderen, Rolf Sørensen, will admit to have used EPO in a few minutes.

Rolf Sørensen has notoriously denied any use of performance enhancing drugs throughout and after he ended his carreer, and in Denmark he has in recent years become the focal point of the joke "Rolf er ren" (Rolf is clean) mocking him and his denial.

I'm sad, yeah... but surprised? No... unfortunately it's hardly surprising when a guy from the 90es admits to doping...

Red-Head-Dane sums it up perfectly.

Sad, but not surprised.

It's so easy for anyone to sit in their comfortable chair and cast aspersions and insults. As for me, I hope his conscience is more clear after admitting to being part of the problem and that he is able to have a good influence - going forward.

I think every rider who ever confessed did it because they had to or got to a point where they had nothing more to lose (like Hamilton and Landis).

Btw here is his full confession (written by himself):

Or if it is not all of them, then at least almost all of them.. I agree.. It is just about being cynic, when it is better for you to admit then not, then you do it, not before. With Michael Rasmussen beeing the latest example..

Why would you be sad at this news? There was never any doubt that he doped. At least now he admitted it.

He admitted because he had to. He could not keep his job as cycling commentator if he had not admitted to using doping.

Jaja is still going strong...well at least he was before his accident.

Yes, but that does not help Rolf. Since he is hired by danish television, and his danish Boss said on Live TV, that Rolf could not have kept his job, if he had not told the truth.

He said he couldn't keep his job if he didn't comment on doping in general. Not that he had to fess up.

I'm pretty sure he said it wasn't crucial to him if he told the truth about his own past or not but that it was crucial that he started talking about doping in general when commenting on cycling, but whatever.

Rolf could have kept his job even if he did not admit. First TV2 hinted he had to admit, but when he still did not, or only did so very indirectly, they changed it as a demand and called it his personal business. He was simply to good a commentator to fire.

The reason he admits now is more that everyone in Denmark knew he had doped and he was ridiculed more and more in the media and everywhere due to his stubberness of not admitting what everyone knew, so to stop this he simply had no choice

Good for him that he now has admitted, so he can get on with his live and I look forward to more great commentaries from him.

I think we should set new standarts of conviction. Confession without extensive details is not confession.:)

That will leave us with just a few confessions then, but yea saying they doped and not listing the details is like saying you robbed a bank and don't say where the loot is or where it went.
