Well Alberto already had a bad day at stage 8, that's certainity. If Kreuziger wasn't there, maybe all the effort could have been in waste alredy (If we are talking about actually winning Tour de France).

If Contador is unable to perform satisfactorily in the flat TT, my guess is the team will unofficially be thinking about making Kreuziger an equal on the team in this tour.

However this is TdF and Contador puts more fans on the couch than Kreuziger will at this point, so officially Contador can get things going in the 3rd week (which he might, the team just can't bank everything on it imo).

The legs will tell the real story now starting with the first TT.

He's not strong, I'd expect around 30th and drop about 2:30-3 minutes to the Froome. Who would he rank on a par with? Basso?

He lost 39 seconds on TJVG on flat 16 kilometres at Tour de Suisse. He didn't ride full gas since there was the second mountain part. And now he looks to be in better form, better then Mollema and Costa, who were better then Kreuziger at TdS. So if he loses up to 2:30 to Froome, it's ok.

I think you are seeing what you want to see and not what is actually occurring. If Contador were truly struggling he'd have spent a bit of time further back in the pack. He was always near the front ready to respond to the aggression that was taking place. A struggling rider would've been yo-yoing off the back. Kreuziger is riding a strong race and deserves the accolades and he is definitely in fine form.

Edit: I am referring to the action on Stage 9.

I think you should first read what I've written, cause it looks like you're reacting on some non-existing posts. So it's actually the other way round - you're reacting on want you want to react, not on what I write. I've never said Alberto was struggling. I've said that Kreuziger looked stronger to me, but that doesn't mean that Alberto was struggling to hold in the group. And I never meant it.

He is the strongest of the team.
Contador has more name, so he must attack and Kreuziger must be protected

What if Alberto can't attack and Roman can?

I think you have to send Roman out on the attack on Mt. Ventoux and see how Sky reacts. If AC is feeling stronger, he counters their response, or if they ignore the move, it opens up possibilities for Roman to move up on GC (his WT points count remember). Reverse this if Roman does a better ITT tomorrow (lot of pressure on AC to show and prove).

Personally I think they will ride conservatively on Ventoux, and instead use Kreuziger in an attack on a stage with multiple mountains

Pretty good TT today. At least he gave answer to all of those who've repeated that he's overrated as a time trialist again and again.

Agree, good effort today.

Hopefully Saxo will sacrifice one of the top 10 players in the 3rd week.

No repeat of the CdD farce please (I know that didn't involve Kreuziger).

Pretty sure conservative riding is now officially out of the window.

Another step up today. Until now he looks very good. Sacrifice is nearing though...

I could see Contador and Kreuziger both ending up on the podium. That would be the best.

Kreuziger to top 5, but will fail in a couple of the mountian stages as he allways does

If he gets top five as a domestique, I don't see how anybody could call it fail.

I didn't mean it like that, what I menat was that he would probably have a couple of days in the mountians where he would not be able to assist AC too much, and loose a couple of minutes to Froome, AC, Quintana, MOllema and so on.

Everybody has better and worse days. He couldn't gain on his better day and probably will lose on worse day, I agree.
Still I think top ten would be great.
