I’m gonna have a neck injury tomorrow, looking back more than Vingo to see if the Redbulls are coming.

This race will be better for him to challenge Pogi than Amstel or Liege. Don’t think he’s getting dropped more than a couple meters on the hardest cobbled sections, like in Brabantse. His engine will make up a lot for it.

If I was him or Mathieu, I wouldn’t follow Pogi all the way to the top. Try to stay within a couple bike lengths with some “reserve”. Or stay close to each other just behind. Maybe the only way to beat Pogi is together.

That’s a bold prediction, especially for AGR. At this stage, Remco should have a much more realistic chance of challenging Pogacar at AGR than at RVV. In any case, let’s hope for a strong debut from Remco, that way, he’ll definitely come back.

I agree regarding Amstel. But I think Remco could be closer to Pog in RVV than Liege. It's shaping to be an interesting race!

Awesome news! Finally Remco and his team listened to the renowned forum experts.

Even top3 place wouldnt surprise me much given his awesome engine on such terrain but lets see how his positioning works there. He may need some experience but there will be no pressure during his 1st participation.
He's the biggest Belgian rider in the biggest Belgian race in the most cycling crazy country.

Yeah, good luck holding that pressure off. :grimacing:

Remco in the race just increases Pogacar's chances even more. Remco will work with Pogacar and MVP, this will allow Pogacar to work less and Remco is so aero that MVP will probably eat more wind, recovering less between hills.
I like the way you think. Every possible race circumstance (bad weather, new contenders, whatever) is better for Pogacar!

That was my thought as well; this is Remco and Flanders we’re talking about here! His every move before, during, and after the race, for good or ill, will be dissected in depth, there is no escaping it. If he drops a stinker he won’t get much slack with the “Well, it’s his first time…” argument. What Remco does with that pressure is another matter entirely.

We know he has the engine to go the distance when in form, I just don’t see all the corners and short, sharp being his stomping ground honestly, but I very much want to be surprised; I would love nothing more Sunday than a big result from Remco (Wout too, guess it’s a tie!). I honestly think Remco should start the finale early; I really think he would do better with the least amount of positional jostling and accordion effect possible, and I think he would benefit from some chaos here. Coming into the bergs clean is the way for him. If he does blow sky high in his first shot I’d rather it be in a blaze of glory than ignominiously sliding out the back…honestly, my expectations are not super high for him but still, it’s Remco, and if he shows up Sunday with imperious legs, who knows? All I know is between him entering and Wout looking like he’s going to show up with some form, De Ronde is looking decidedly more interesting. Can’t wait!
