Looks like Michael Ball has bigger things to worry about then the comeback of Rock Racing.
So Ball is not only a flake, he is also an idiot. His company is going down the tubes and he is wasting money setting up a bike "manufacturing" company. That douche has also been stringing the riders along while knowing that there was a good chance that he would not be able to pay them for the year.

Nothing about Rock racing or Mike Balls belong in any discussion about Pro cycling. Ball could have called Carrera jean execs a to find out that high end denim and cycling don't mix. Anybody who has ever done any heavy riding in Rock Racing jeans probably found out what his riders did, you get a bad rash.I can't wait to see all that skull and crossbones BS on EBAY. When I see some Spinal Tap metal band touring in his team bus I am going to stop and peee myself.

Rock Racing.....here to stay.............until we have to pay
A month ago Ball gave an interview to Velonation. Aside from touting his new bike business, he effectively complained that the UCI would not allow him to spend the money that would have been required for a pro team. At that very time his lawyers must have been preparing the paperwork for R&R's bankruptcy.

A quick judgement would point to him being an extremely bad businessman, but I suspect that he is one of those types who promote themselves with constant lies, hoping, maybe fooling themselves, that some of what they are saying will eventually come true.

So let's see... you're worried about your job security and long term prospects and trying to save a little money. What's it going to be, the $200 jeans with the fancy stitching on the a$$ at Nordstroms, or a $30 pair of Levis 501s at Fred Meyer? I'm so surprised that R&R is going belly up. But I'm sure this will have absolutely no effect on the distribution of their pricey bike with the fancy logo on the bars--they'll just do a little "restructuring" and that'll fix everything.
hey wallace, while i agree ball = tool , i just wanted to point out LEVI, the nice ones are also $200...........:)

Only the cool people in Philly wear their kits :D ...all 3 of us

Was talking with one of the guys from Rock's team today at Bicycle Therapy (local shop)he was telling me the news about Rock declaring Chap. 11. Said they probably won't even be selling any bike gear on the site. Not sure if that was short term or final plans.

He said he was supposed to go to Mexico next week for a race, but he was not even sure if he was going now or not.

EDIT
In other news reguarding cycling kits, the Team Radio Shack store is open. Your "Fred" riders can now choose to wear Radio Shack stuff now.

I would think that the team was owned by a separate entity that did not file for bankruptcy. Even at that since they filed for Chapter 11 they continue to operate during and after the bankruptcy. It's a plan of reorganization. Not sure what Rock & Republic's plan would look like since they provide overpriced items/luxury items that people won't buy in a bad economy. Although if the team is owned and operated by the same entity then it could be interesting with the unpaid salaries, which would get some priority.

EDIT: It looks like the team is owned by a separate entity. Since only their sponsor is bankrupt this should not affect the team itself, although funding could be decreased if Rock & Republic rejects the contract. Not that that really matters and the team doesn't race anymore. It would then depend upon whether contracts still need to be paid. Claims or suits for the cash could cause the team to go under.

Rock Racing: Please Please just go away. You were a funny joke for a few minutes. Now you are just a boreing embarassment.
Mr. Ball: Please Please just go away. Go back to what you know; rear ends; assaulting your girl friends; porno blackmail schemes. Do your sleeze somewhere else. Pro cycling has enough problems without you.
Thank you UCI: So you really DO a financial background check before issueing a license.

Thank you for confirming that there are, in fact, only 3 cool people in Philly.

Now, as for the wanna-be kits....

TD bank announced it will sponsor the only real pro classic we have in the US for 3 more years. A 250k race in Philly. The bars open early and the people line the street with smiles and plastic cups of beer. Unlike other fear mongers, the Philly race is open to all the best racers regardless on what country you are from. There is an excellent transit system that allows you to take a train or bus to all great places along the race route. Before, during and after the race is a huge party that happens all because of a bike race. Don't take my word for it,see for yourself that there are 100's of thousands of cool people in Philadelphia.I don't think Philly is the hotbed of the Rock Racing movement

I never meant we were the only cool people, just me, my work buddie and my girl are the only people I have ever seen(outside of a club one night) with any Rock gear on at all. Thus 3 cool people :D

about the race....the TD bank race is my favorite day in Philly every year. I own a house on "The Wall" that basically I just keep for 1 day a year, while mainly living in Center City. My girl hosts a big party up on the wall, while I hang in Lemon Hill towards the latter parts of the race.

Lemon Hill is great place to watch the race as well. A lot of tents go up early in the morning from lots of bike shops and clubs. 1 tent I have a hand in making sure is there every year.

Manyunk is basically the party people that like to watch the race and drink..and party some more, but do not know that much about cycling in general. Lemon Hill is more of the race knowledgeable fans, at least that has been my experience over the last 15 years I've watched the race since I moved here.

I just like that fact no matter where people are on the race course they get to have a great day of fun.

The site says all of the jersey's and bibs are not availaible yet....I think they needed the material for Lance new skin suit for the Tour.

They do sell a radio shak cycling cap, which the site says "This Nike cycling cap is as functional on the bike as it is fashionable off".. I can't wait to walk around in my radio shak hat, while on a night on the town.
