I would reciprocate, but a 'popular in the Emerging game' team would be hugely below budget (1776 if I were to use your CW team, even less if I were to accommodate Stigger and Vadillo)

Madrazo's team from last year almost outscored RhD's team from the main game, despite only having 12 riders, so you never know. She also got quite unlucky by having Anne Dorthe Ysland who was out for the whole season, and Wilma Olausson, who only rode one race before she was hospitalised for a few months while battling an eating disorder, on top of some of her other riders having poor seasons.

Interesting that Oudeman (11 picks) and Roldan(9) make your Collective Wisdom team, but were entirely unselected for my Women's game, and that Ciabocco (11 picks here) and Venturelli (7) were each selected just once over there. Disproportionate support in my game compared to here for Mitterwalner and Stigger.

A few riders were selected in the other game (all just once each), but despite eligibility were not picked here:
ABAIDULLINA Inna
ALVARADO Ceylin del Carmen
AVOINE Alison
COMTE Ema
MAHE Océane
RUFFILLI Vittoria
VAN ALPHEN Aniek
YULDASHEVA Sevinch
Perhaps likely candidates for the Collective Ignorance team? Mahe is perhaps the most surprising, as she was not dead cheap in the other game (101 points), and price is not a disincentive here. (Alvarado and Van Alphen may have been picked over there by those who know from from CX, but don't follow women's racing closely.)

I'm bemused: Why does your Collective Wisdom team include Blasi and Schreiber, but exclude the equally popular Stigger and Vadillo?

From that list, the only ones I seriously considered were Comte & Mahe.

Btw, as a fun fact, the 4 higher women in the collective wisdom that I didn't select (Wolff, Venturelli, Schreiber, Hashimi) are exactly the 4 last cuts in my team. So, my shortlist of 20 riders was exactly the same 20 highest women in the collective wisdom list :)

We'll see if your wisdom/boring predictability works out for you.

Out of the 73 picked riders, I think there were only two that I hadn't either already added to the spreadsheet as potential picks or at the very least visited their CQ pages: Gabriela Lopez and Clémence Chereau.

While both Holmgren twins were picked, only Lucía Ruiz made it in, so it will be interesting to see if she scores more than her sister.

Lucinda Stewart's national title keeps Ruvu in front, but the fact that she isn't part of the Jayco WT team hasn't helped his team since the championships.

While my team is far from the lead, I have at least already equaled the amount of updates I spent one spot above Madrazo in last year's game.

It's about time for an update. Points from today's Umag Trophy are not included, but I believe that only affects the out of competition teams. Less than half of our picks are on the board at this point, and Aussie champion Lucinda Stewart is still the leader among them.

Ruvu has defended the lead, but Archieboy is only one point behind, and the winner of this update, Salvarini, is almost breathing down their necks at this stage.

It's time for another update.

Salvarani has outscored everyone else the past month and is now safely in the lead. Bminchow also scored well, but it wasn't enough to escape from last place (yet), despite Archieboy's horror month. 46 of our 73 riders have scored points at this stage of the season.

The Best of 2024 team has taken a commanding lead in the OOC League, while the 2024 Toppers seems to be its losing riders faster than Hess Cycling.

The first GT-ish race of the season is now behind us with and a lot of one-day races have been dealt with as well over the past month and a bit. @Cordi333 has won this update by amassing just over 400 points, but it's @Armchair Cyclist who can cheer the loudest as his team has moved up to first place in the standings.

Two victories and other solid results means that Paula Blasi is now not only the highest scoring rider among our picks, but also among all possible picks. 16 of our 73 riders have still not scored any points, but I know that some of them have been injured and might start racing again soon.

Cordi333 has won the second update in a row and has now taken over the lead. Dk one has inherited last place, but has still managed to decrease the gap to 16th and 15th.

At this point in time, there's still no team that has seen all its riders score points yet, but with multiple races this weekend, that could perhaps be about to change.

This month could be interesting for my team. Four more riders have equaled or surpassed the points they cost me when I signed them: I. Holmgren, F. Moors, V. Cavallar, and E. Ciabocco. I've now equaled the 1,530 points I spent on the 16 signings at the start of the season :).

I had hoped CQ would've released an update before I went on holiday last month, but there still wasn't one available when I returned home. Now there is a new one and it contains results from both June and July, as well as the Tour de France. That means that quite a lot of points have been scored since my last update and nearly all teams are now holding new spots in the overall ranking.

However by finishing a close second to jon ezeitza, Cordi333 has increased his lead from 34 points to 103. Libertine Seguros, on the other hand, has had a bad couple of months and has dropped down to last place as a result. But there are still 2.5 months of racing left, so nothing is decided yet (none of us have any Indian or Taiwanese riders, so I don't think we'll be scoring points in November or December).

As we're now in August, it will also be interesting to follow whether Paula Ostiz will have an impact on DJW's points tally.

CQ released their latest update on Monday. I have added points from today's Grand Prix de Wallonie (only to the few riders that are relevant to this game).

The top 3 remains the same. Madrazo has cut the gap to Cordi by 9 points, but since they share 14 riders it could prove hard to gain another 94 points before the end of the season.

By winning this update Ruvu has moved within 55 points of 3rd place. Having "only" 10 riders in common with Jon Ezeitza makes that duel more exciting on paper.

LS has finished last for the second update in a row, so if nothing else, she's at least found some consistency in the latter stages of the game.

Since none of us have any African riders in our teams that can score points at the continental championships in November, we are not likely to see any huge developments before the end of the year. However, three of us do have Romina Hinojosa, who, as I understand it, will be riding at the Mexican NC this week. I will therefore wait until the end of those before revealing the final scores. It will also give me some more time to work out some stats.

Romina Hinojosa scored 27 points during the Mexican NC, thus helping her to outscore her 2024 performance. However, it was still 6 points short of elevating Salvarani's team from 12th to 11th. Well he can't win everything.

@Laurens147 gets close to a maximum break with a dominant win in this update. @MADRAZO, @Ruvu and @Dk one all get the better off the players right in front of them, but was it enough to move past them?

The answer is a resounding...

... no in all 3 cases. DKO got very close, but RhD takes 16th place by a mere 2 points.

So there we have it: @Cordi333 wins the second edition of this game. Interestingly, the top 8 teams were also the 8 teams with the highest popularity scores, although they didn't finish in the exact same order. Much like Oliver Bleddyn in the last sprint of the omnium points race yesterday, Laurens147 also ends up in the top 10 thanks to a strong finish.

A colossal congratulations to Cordi who becomes the first player to receive the Muriel Furrer Trophy. Take good care of it until the day where you may have to hand it over to someone else.

@Libertine Seguros finish in last place, but I can possibly soften the blow by revealing that if last year's game had lasted 2 seasons her team would actually have come out on top, despite only being in 7th place at the end of 2024.

The spreadsheet and further statistics will follow soon, but before that I'd like to thank everyone one of you for taking part. I hope you've had fun and may also have learned a thing or two that could come in handy in a possible third edition of this game.

Cordi's winning score was 3231 points, but how did that match up against the imaginary teams?

In the OOC league he would have lost to both the team with the best 16 riders that were picked in 2024 (they scored 4453 points) and the Collective Wisdom team (3483 points), but 12 of our 18 teams beat all of the other teams in that league.

So since these riders scored fewer points combined in 2025, does that mean the best possible picks for this year's game would have given them a run for their money?

No is also the answer here. Many riders that had strong seasons had already scored more than 200 points before the start of the year. These riders scored 3.75 times more points compared to 2024, while the average for the best 2024 team was a whopping 5.87 compared to their 2023 results.

None of these riders will be eligible for future editions of this game (Ségolène Thomas has also retired to focus on a career in agricultural engineering, so she will likely not be a great pick for any cycling games going forward).

Two juniors were picked in this year's game. Paula Ostiz scored 9 points and Eirini Stampori 7. Sidney Swierenga was the clear winner among the youngest riders with 57 points. Not bad considering she wasn't riding as a stagiaire at the end of the season, but also far from Cat Ferguson's record setting 143 points from last year.

If anyone had somehow managed to pick the best 16 riders that are still teenagers at this very moment, they would have finished last with 2070 points, only 42 behind LS (and if I hadn't included the Mexican NC, they would have beat her team because there were some higher scoring riders that turned 20 after Chrono des Nations ).

Last, but not least, here's the final spreadsheet.
