44th edition of Donostia San Sebastian Klasikoa 236 km, start 10.45 CET, TV from 15.00 CET

The route has changed again due to road disruptions and safety concerns. Riders must cover 236 km this year, 6 km more than last year, to clinch the txapela in Zurriola. The race will include 7 scoring mountain passes and a few surprises: Andazarate, Azkarate, Urraki, Alkiza, Jaizkibel, Erlaitz and Pilotegi. The latter is a new climb that will début at the Clásica, replacing Murgil. Pilotegi, with slopes of up to 27%, is even more demanding than Murgil or Bordako tontorra. This edition will include 2 intermediate sprints: one at the first finish line checkpoint, and the other at the reverse finish line checkpoint at 219.5 kilometres.

Pilotegi....... what a little brute...... last 500m is 17% gradient with a 27% section.
Expect lots of side to side labouring across the road here!!

Unless of course Alpha Mutant Vingegaard just powers through it!

So, will Clasica de San Remco become Clasica de San Jonas?

Personally, I am hoping that the local hero prevents that from happening.

If Vingegaard doesn't magically suck cause it's a one day race it's hard to see past him.
Yeah, could all come down to what Vingegaard has been up to since the end of the Tour. If he's been spending his time at the old age people's home instead of training then he'll struggle. UAE will probably try the ol' outnumbering in the finale routine.
We've got 2 Lennys, 2 Martinez and one Yates, so one of the those 5 could podium.

Damn, that murito at the end is absolutely ridicolous. I love this route, whether it being this one or the "old" murito, but with Jaizkibel kicking off the finale straight into Erlaitz and then with 20 km of flat which can open the race up for tactical cames into the murito. Very nice route, now lets see Paul Allen's route (and card, while we are at it)

Ok, let's say for some reason Vinge can't contest for victory, be it an off day or an untimely puncture or even food poisoning.

Who are your next (top) two favorites?

Finding new ways to climb Monte Igueldo and pretending this is a different finish.

Vingo should have the legs to smash Erlaitz record. Does he have what it takes to win in Remco style?
