Don’t think so, I think he just didn’t know where he was at.

It’s just really hard to do GC at the tour and then be good a few weeks later. Finding the right balance between rest, recovery training and intensity is tricky if you don’t have a lot of time.

Yeah, the coverage isn't quite 10/10.

Looking at that group, this race would have been a cakewalk for any elite rider if he showed up in decent shape. But I guess the really awkward spot on the calendar plays a big role.
