So true.... and I really hope he attacks and LA is unable to follow. It would be nice to see him eat some humble pie for a change!
I know the Alps are different from Pyrenees, but if anyone is going to be even better in the Alps, it's Lance.

If Sastre was strong enough to pull something off, he would have made up some time in the Pyrenees. He didn't get one second on Lance.

In LA's prime, he could win in either mountain range. He will be slower off an attack. He will have to fight back. The question is who is going to attack LA or AC. The risk for themselves blowing up may be to great. It all maybe media hype on how strong Astana is but Sastre will not be there. He has done a great job of resting but as Alpe de Huez stated, there are not any killer climber stages. The true challenges are going to come from Andy and Frank. Andy a great climber and the course will not let Frank to be dropped so he will support.

Yeah kinda believe Sastre missed a bet in the Pyrenees. I think Lance is weaker there than the Alps

Has Sastre ever ridden well in the first week of the tour? No. Never. He is always best in the third week.

His latest interview was a weird one. Can someone tell me what winning the Mt. Ventoux stage has to do with a charity event he's going to attend on September 9th ? Some unclear connection to the Vuelta ?

Sastre quote:

"I said before the most important stage for me is the Ventoux [on Stage 20]. I would like to try and win that one, because on September 9 this year, people in Belgium and Holland have organised an event to help raise money for people with cancer, and I will be at that event.

Yeah, that was a weird one. He went on to talk about how he prefers to help people over winning the tour. I think Sastre is going through a bit of depression right now due to the lack of attention and respect he's been getting from the media plus the fact that most people don't consider him a real champion.

Could be. He's made some other comments during this Tour that made me wonder whether he had the right intensity level for this race, but I kind of wrote it off as maybe he's just a really laid back guy. He definitely doesn't feel as though he's loved enough. Kind of bizarre.
