this mouth full of marbles sounds incoherent.

for dis staage I like da german rider because I am a german and he likes to break and i did breaks". ok then

and he buttons the top button of his polo!

all of which christian agrees 5 thousand percent.

^ To German ears, I've heard Arnie's accent is roughly equivalent to an unsophisticated English West Country farmer's: "Oi'll bee baaack" kind of thing.

Voigt's seems similarly strong, and rough like a Scouse or Geordie accent or something. Whatever, it's certainly a bit of an earful.

Arnie's not German.

I used to like Jens' "balls out" riding style.....now I cringe every time he opens his mouth....

Erm, yeah... and the official language of Austria is... German.

Yes, absolutely correct :)

With German being a pluricentric language, German dialects in Austria should not be confused with the variety of Standard German spoken by most Austrians, which is distinct from that of Germany or Switzerland. Distinctions in vocabulary persist, for example, in culinary terms, where communication with Germans is frequently difficult, and administrative and legal language, which is due to Austria's exclusion from the development of a German nation-state in the late 19th century and its manifold particular traditions.

His constant attention seeking is making it very easy to forget that Jens was once a very good, likeable bike racer. Now he's completely caught up in his own legend.

But that is his job now - and getting paid for doing it by Trek and NBC. At races he is a big draw with crowds at the moment.

One could argue that his riding style was constant attention seeking. Worthless opportunistic breaks that had no impact on GC ever.

To be honest most of the ex riders who commentate are pretty boring. They sort of get led into answers that are obvious by their co commentator's and it's very difficult to give a funny or exciting response. Millar is far worse and so smug and patronising.
Kelly for me is great , unintentionally funny at times.
Jens is like a excitable Boxer dog let off the leash, give him time and he may yet be entertaining in a good way.
It would be great if someone like Chipo could be unleashed, no censorship just his views.

True, but there was also some excellent domestique work mixed in there as well, the 2004 Tour in particular.

Yes, he used to do some monster pulls in the early days. The pointless breakaway thing was more recent if my memory serves.

its TV time for the sponsors and living up to the reputation & illusion that he created (most of which needs to be discussed in the clinic forum)

being a suicidal, somewhat sado masochistic breakaway specialist was the nice little persona he created for himself the fans fuelled it as well

he seemed to love being on the front, laying down the hurt and then self destructing
getting on the camera post stage and telling how much pain and suffering he is enduring for the Team

once that BS about "Shut Up Legs" grew to fruition, it just reeked of douchebaggery

Sean Kelly comes across as having absolutely nothing between his ears

I remember him dropping out of the break in the 2004 Tour specifically to chase down Ullrich who went kamikaze trying to regain time and towed the chasers the entire way back. He still stayed with the lead group (with Basso, LA, Sastre, Landis, Mancebo, Kloeden, Rubiera etc) and then took another turn for Basso, dropping most of the climbers, when Basso told Jens he wanted to go for the stage win. Jens was monstrous that Tour.

2004 CSC were monstrous, very true

as above, most, if not all of that can be attributed to: - Anti-Doping Denmark report reveals widespread doping under Riis at CSC
discussion is for the clinic

he had a long, quite successful and teflon coated career
now he is just miking it for all its worth
amongst the others

all looking very happy with themselves

Millar's commentary is weirding me out, he keeps saying what is about to happen... and then it happens. I am used to cycling commentary being more about misinterpreting what has just happened - usually naming the wrong riders.
