I wouldn't expect him to podium his first GT (I realise you were being sarcastic there), but a top 10 in the Giro or Vuelta next year is within his capabilities, IMO.

You hit it in the nail. I was telling my wife about the stage to Aspen that Henao had a bad day, and she asked me if he had arrived in the grupetto, then I told her no. He was in the second group. The reason I know he was having a bad day was because he was not attacking.

I was of course just kiddin, as ryo said he would easily podium at the giro in 12' which resulted in me face palming.

Anyway I agree, others have done a fine ride on thier first GT attempt, Henao has experience with longish racing already (of course the tempo and such is diiferent) so I think he could do well.

Androni has plenty of guys from Colombia&Venezuela: Serpa, Jackson Rod, Ochoa, Tiny Jose, etc. Aqua&Sapone has a couple of colombians, Betancourt being one of them.Those Pro-Cont could scare any Pro-Tour team any day. Saxo bank has an argentinian sprinter, Haedo, very fast finisher. Brazil has Pro-Tour dudes. So does Movistar, with a development south american team. Fact of the matter is: The times' are ripe to spank some dykes/The place is right to grab some ****s. Too late to exchange gold for mirrors. We still have gold, but you guys have ran out of mirrors. Kapish?!

Interesting. After so much talks about "adaptation" and "easy first season" and "maybe doing Vuelta if any GTs", seems like hes been given a big goal which is Giro and with kinda light spring schedule and traning altitiude camp in Colombia seems like its a very serious goal.

No reason not to send him to a GT, he's 24 years old.

Saw a picture of him recently and it's quite clear that his legs are way too oversized for a climber (as Ryo has mentioned earlier), I mean he looks almost more muscular than a typical sprinter...

agreed.if you can win vuelta a colombia which is extremely hard,sometimes i dare to say they race it even harder than some big races in europe.i think he's ready.

about his legs,that's no biggie.he'll be just fine...

2012 route isnt that hard especially in the 2 weeks.
At 24 and with already 2 (or 3?) Vuelta a Colombia under his belt I dont think he will have big troubles but I also guess Sky wont have big problems to pull him out in case he is too tired.

yeah, big legs can really hold you back in a gt. take a look at this guy, no way he ever sniffs a podium.

Evans is not a climber, Henao is. Pure climbers don't need enormous legs. It's probably not a big issue though.

Plus Sarmiento (as a domestique of course), and possibly Monsalve/Anacona.

I doubt Quintana or Anacona will go due to their youth/inexperience, but maybe Monsalve could force his way into the Androni squad.
