Sky TdF Team - which riders are in who's camp?

Not too aware on the various allegiances within the Sky camp, but in light of the recent comments by Wiggo & The Dawg, which riders would side with who – if push came to shove…?

It doesn't matter, if Wiggins/Froome are not content to ride in the same team then a decision will be made which sees one left home. They will not both go if this is true animosity and remains unresolved for exactly the reason of this thread, it has the potential to split the entire team.

sure - that's the adult approach to this..

but as we saw with Astana and Conta / LA this doesnt always happen..

So, humour me if you will... and lets discuss who would side with who.

Porte - doesn't get involved and does whatever the team orders are as long as he doesn't have to chase down Froome.
Henao/Uran - ride for themselves as well
EBH - goes in breakaways
Kiryienka - sits on the front regardless
DLG - rides for Valverde
Thomas - leads out Cav
Eisel - babysits Cav

Neither of them seem particularly the sort to build up followings. The rest of the team will probably follow the orders of the guys who pay their wages.

The impression I get is that the Sky management are more Froome's side, simply because they think he's the safer bet - hence why they've shuffled Wiggins off to the Giro in the hope of tiring him out and thus avoiding any real issues.

What happens if Stannard is selected? I can see a real falling out between him and Kiryienka over who gets to ride on the front all day. This could make any falling out between Froome and Wiggins seem irrelevant.

You are suggesting that DLG, Thomas and Eisel are so fed up with Froome And Wiggo that they are going to support another team? Or do you suggest they are so thoroughly programmed that they will support Cav anyway? And DLG has an ingrained support for Piti?

And by gods... you seem to suggest a ten man team!

This is even more soapy than I imagined! :D

Although the thread is getting fun.

I think they ride for David Brailsford (sp?), if David says pull at the front for rider X they do it, if he switches to rider y they do it. Besides who will actually be with them at the end, it will be a battle between Wiggo and Froome. Which means the rest of the team will be free from the politics of who worked for whom and for how long.

Would love to see a T-Mobile 2006 style team tactics though :D

I like how you are thinking! That tactic would really work for froome... and then at the right moment....

Unless Wiggo is in Froome's.

I really hoped for a remake of the La Vie Claire '86. drama last year.
It was the only way to make the Tour exciting.

i really think if sir Wiggins shows to have a real chance at the GC Sky will fully support him over Froome no doubt, despite whatever Froome says

nah...

Wiggins is 32, Froome 27 ... in the final analysis for the future it would be mad to drive out the younger man. Moreover, whatever happens, Wiggins has a lot more personal loyalty than Brailsford, so he'll do what he's told in the end. Froome answers only to the missus.

That won't happen I don't think. They will pledge loyalty and then during the race it will be a rehash of Hinault/Lemond. Or Roche and Visentini in the Giro. It will be worse if Wiggins wins the Giro. Of course it will resolve itself if one of them is riding much better than the other which happened in the Lemond situation. Hinault finally had to lay down arms. The team will hope for that but if it really close and a matter of seconds that will be interesting.

Froome now has to attack Wiggins at AX3, cause Wiggins will take yellow at the ITT if he doesnt get distanced before, nobody can believe that a team wouldnt work for the gc leader and 2012 tour winner.

Shouldn't be too hard if Wiggins is part of the Skytrain, especially if he is not the last man (which will probably be Porte). Contador's attack will quickly have Wiggins peeling off.

this is a tricky situation , i cannot believe bradley is ready to hand over the mantle to froome yet . great riders win more than one TDFs so it depends how wiggins wants to go down in history .

wiggins has expressed his desire to a least keep going so he can defend his olympic gold in rio so i very much doubt he is likely to be a team sky second string for 3 more years until then .
