slack brakes

Hi, I've just changed my brake cable for the rear brakes. I have a spesh tricross sport with cantilever brakes.

The rear brake feels very slack. I can pull the lever right back so it touches the bar.

Is this due to stretch in the cable?

How can I rectify this?

Your break cables have bedded them selves in so just tighten the cables again if you are out of adjustment screw the adjusted in more and pull the cable iner with a pair of pliers and re tighten
if still not working check no fray in iner or outer cables.

then adjust.
