So how many miles - kilometers - did you ride?

5000 miles for 2009. I had the same goal last year but only got to a little over 4100 miles.

I hope to keep in the 4000 to 5000 miles range per year until retirement and then increase the mileage.

As a recreational rider I think this is reasonable :)

Only about 4000 km. It's been a crappy year with illness and injuries. Colds and flu early in the year, broken rib in June which also meant July wasn't up to par, and now a shoulder injury has kept me off the bike for 3 months.

Hopefully next year will be better.

500ish miles on the bike.
1300 miles running, taking an average of 25 mile weeks. Probably a conservative estimate.

Yeah, I swapped sports a while ago.

Man, I only get in about 2000 miles a year in MN. Of course, our outside season is maybe 6 months at the max.

When I was racing, I'd do about 5000 miles in 6 months. But, no reason to ride that much now. Still love riding though.

10000 miles and counting

It has been a good year, I should break the 10,000 miles barrier this year. moved to Thailand in May and have been banging out the miles around Chiang Mai since then. Great place for cycling.

puny 998.

i wont even bother to round it off to a thousand. compared to my racing past with 12,000+/yr on a regular basis this is nothing.

but i have about 5,000 miles on cross-country skis this year (combined rollerskis off season and winter classic and skate skiing). just yesterday i put in 30 miles in 4 hours and could not be more frozen and happier.:D

ps.
interestingly, i find that in general cycling mileage correlates well with a rider's racing category - cat 1 are easily in 12-15,000 range and full pros are pushing 18,000 to 22,000.

3300km, we'll below the 8000km I was hoping to get in, but not too bad given i lost about 6mths of riding due to work and the dreaded C.

oh well, there's always next year ;)

Road: 5300 miles.
MTB: 1300 miles.
Trail running: 1100 miles. 100 of that in one race. :) :)

1100 miles! That's monstrous and sounds painful.

I tried to run a mile and both hamstrings started to lock up.
12,500 miles on the road.

I just do not know how to get the time for 10,000 plus miles with work and kids. I am limited to Sundays and two evenings a week for riding. Add to that, the Sunday ride is mostly social and usually only goes for between 30 and 40 miles.

Some sad advice for bulk miles: indoor trainer shifts starting at 5:30 am. If you can even get 45 minutes of serious effort and do other riding outdoors you can work it out with the kids. Otherwise don't watch any TV unless you're on a trainer and cut out the forum. Like I said; some of it is downright sad but does build the power.

I hate the trainer - just hate it but that may be the way I have to go :(

I gotta say it's why I love the outdoor epics when I get the chance. It's also the only way us rain-soaked riders can get meaningful intensity so we can enjoy your wonderful California terrain in the Spring. My sympathies on the time factor.
