yeah come to think of it, i haven't heard or seen much of phinney this year. If they want to support TJ/evans why they didn't include frank as a mountain domestique doesn't make sense to me  they have about twice the amount of flat stage domestiques as mountain domestiques. Imo makes more sense to have it the other way round
If you read this article, Gilbert complaining of selection process over a week ago,

http://www.nieuwsblad.be/sportwereld/cnt/DMF20130617_00626483

If you look at Cadel's twitter pages over the last week photos of the chosen domestiques training with Evans- and BMC boast in their press release that they have taken six 2011 supporters of Evans. Hence my previous comments.

Anyone got more insider info on BMC?

Both Phil and Thor should have been in the team, not competing for a place, replacing one of the flat stage domestiques. Phil and Thor might not have had great results this year but neither have any of the chosen 2011 domestiques.

I doubt current form had anything to do with the selection criteria, but Cadel being too insecure to have both Phil and Thor in the same team.

There is a reason for that, if think about it I'm sure you'll work it out. A hint: it has something to do with the word Domestique

What'd Thor win :) ?
Not sure why no phinney, would've been great in the ttt and on the flat stages for BMC.
Was rather confused as to why they didin't include frank either. He was great at the tds. Bmc don't have that many mountain domestiques in their squad (i think there was only two or three), so having another climbing domestique like frank would make a difference for evans/TJ imo

Agreed. I mean, Thor regardless of how great a year he had, should be there, as should Frank and Tayler. Bad move IMO by BMC.

I can understand why Phinney and Hushovd aren't going.

There's going to be enough agro between OPQS, Lotto, Cannondale and Argos that no other team will really need flat domestiques for the first two weeks. With no prologue they will want to get their sprinters up and in the mix often and early. A sprinter could, in theory, hold yellow for over a week. Why burn out Phinney on the flats when the sprinters teams can do it for you?

BMC already have a stage hunter in Gilbert, do they need another? Hushovd has hardly raced this season, understandable that he's left out. Sure he always seems to come good at the Tour but he can clean up at the Vuelta if there's no real competition.

As said above it's leaving out Frank and to a lesser extent, Marco Pinotti that is strange.

Marco Pinotti was out for most of the season so far with a broken collar bone. He only just came back to racing at the Italian champs and actually won the TT. I understand why he wasn't selected because he hasn't raced enough and has only just gotten back to riding this month due to his injury. He'll likely do the vuelta; hopefully he puts in a good performance there

Maybe he wants to be in top form for the WC TT as well.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Thor would have been one of the strongest in the team trial. Cadel was never very happy about BMC signing him. In my opinion a true chamipon would have picked the strongest riders, and a true champion would have demanded the riders to support him and give it all for the captain. Instead Cadel go for the safe option with the riders he won with last time, a pretty defensive tactic and probably not one that will win him the tour this year.
Phinny never had the tour on his schedule, but I think is strange Frank is not in the team, he did a great job in TdS.
Cadel will probably end up somewhere in top 10, but he will not be on the podium.
