To know who are the culprits and why they are allowed to continue to be members.

I guess there are a fair few sockpuppets in the clinic and yet the culprits continue to post.

which members do you mean ? The only member I can remember like this is bro deal but this was discussed at the time in one of threads.. He had been banned and once his ban had finished he had made a new account so I think he went back to his original account and the other newer one was closed.. I can't remember many other instances of this though, I could be wrong though..

But BroDeal held his hands up and came clean. But BroDeal posts all over the forum.

But i am mostly referring to the clinic and most of these sockpuppets appear in the Armstrong threads. It appears to me that these new members who are well up to speed on the clinic and Armstrong threads that the majority have to be sockpuppets there only to disrupt and obfuscate the threads.

Now apart from BPC who is doing this?

What is the deal? If a member has a sockpuppet and are caught are they and said sockpuppet banned, how long and is it revealed who the originator of the sockpuppet is?

Last ban was Joep_Joya and Joey_J? Who orginiated these 2?

That is all i am curious about.

hmm maybe the word sock puppet is not a good one for us to use, the people who get banned especially from the lance thread are usually old members who have been permanently banned and keep coming back(for example flicker and spartacus rocks), so I suppose they are not really sockpuppets even though thats what we say the reason for banning them is.. For example pig pen was banned and the reason was for being a sock puppet but he was flicker so I think it's more like he's a banned user who is returning.. as far as I know no one has survived making another account and posting with it unless it is like a bro deal situation which was ok.

as for joep_joya and joey_j I am not sure that was done whilst i was asleep(different time zones).

You are reading too much into things. Those two accounts were sockpuppets - of each other. When I reviewed them there was no obvious evidence of any third - or 'Master' - account involvement.

To take that further - the Mods are not aware of anyone currently operating a sockpuppet. If you suspect it, report it and we will immediately review.

Note: A lot of supposed sockpuppets either really are new users or there is not sufficient evidence to act upon. Don't assume that because you see someone posting that you think is a sockpuppet, that they are doing so with some form of permission from the Moderators. We either dont know about them or we do know and have reviewed and decided they are not sockpuppets.

To answer your last questions:
#Sockpuppetry gets a permanent ban unless there are some strange circumstances involved. (In BroDeal's case there was no overlap in posting and no ban involved for instance - but this is rare)
#All accounts involved get the same ban.
#Whether the owndr is named is moot as they would have been banned too.
#How all this is announced is up to the amount of effort the Mod performing the action wants to put in. After all, we only created the member suspensions thread to reduce some questions. There is no rule that says that we have to post in it in all cases. We do it to try to provide a bit of info.

If you believe some one is operating with more than one identity the most helpful thing to do is to report it. Please don't use this thread or any other thread to throw around random accusations.
