Already a bad few months for Cycling, i hope it doesn't get worst.

Christ. I only saw the last bit of the stage today, heard he had crashed, but didn't realize it was this serious. Got a bad feeling now, really hope he recovers. Fingers crossed.

Medical examination has now revealed the seriousness of his condition. He suffered a severe cranioencephalic trauma with cerebral edema [in layman’s terms, a severe head injury accompanied by excess fluid in the brain]. In addition to that, he suffered multiple fractures and hematomas. Some reports also suggest that he has a punctured lung.

If it of any consolation, he is Switzerland. They will do everything they can to stabilize his condition and his recovery.

Soler really can't take a break (excuse the pun). I know we give him stick about his poor bike handling skills, but this is ridiculous.

Not sure how old this article is, but:
http://www.elpais.com/articulo/depo...ico/severo/elpepudep/20110616elpepudep_15/Tes
"He's in intensive care and it's very serious", Movistar's doctor Alfredo Zúñiga told Reuters. "He's unconscious, but fortunately his condition is stable and it doesn't look like there's going to be further complications", he added.
That's the only info I've found on whether his injuries are life-threatening or not. The translation of Dr. Robert Kretsch's words that Spanish media is running with doesn't match the one that's being used by the English media. Spanish sources have "He has serious injuries, but we can't say that his life is in danger" where English sources have "He has serious injuries, but we can not say now if his life is in danger". I don't know what the original quote is or what language it was in.
